5 points off the play-offs, not on one of their eternal boycotts, as far as I know, and only managed 20,000 today. They always said they were the type of supporters who'd be there for ever more. 'United 'til I die' ............. must be a high mortality rate in Yorkshire.
im sure if they were in the premiership they would have 30,000 plus. rather have them than the likes of palace and hull.
They're a well supported Club. There are many many clubs including ourselves who can boast a successful history, it doesn't mean we remain a 'big club'. It means we were once were a big club but still remain a well supported club. Leeds United are not a big club, they are a well supported club. A solid 20 thousand is good for the championship. All clubs have half arsed supporters who fall by the wayside after relegations.
Sorry mate, did that come across wrong ....... it's this bloody internet. I always think I'm being reasonable on here and people think I'm an aggressive nutcase Couldn't be further from the truth.
Part of being big is winning trophies and on that score they're not. Neither are we or the mags! However, history and support count for something too, and on that basis, yes, they are, as are the NE clubs.
No no Smug. Twas taken as being reasonable, forthright, but reasonable. For what it is worth on the big club debate, everyone has an ontological (I think that is the right word) idea about which clubs are big clubs, regardless of attendances etc (look at Juve, they have a relatively tiny stadiujm compared to the other powerhouses Man U, Barca, Real Madrid). Most would say that Leeds fall in to that category even if the other categories that define a big club don't neccessaruliy suggest they are.
I agree tbh, I was just taking the mick a bit and making a vague comparison to Sunderland. Even so, Leeds supporters I talk to, still believe they actually get 30,000 every week.
Leeds should have massive support considering the size of city, but the fact is they have never had a 50,000 plus crowd in their entire history, even when they were mega successful..
What does 'Big Club' actually mean definitively? It's probably more open to interpretation than any other footballing cliche so you'll never get a right or wrong answer to your question mate.
My best man is a fervent Leeds fan - as passionate as anyone on here. They have had their moments, but, off the top of my head, Sheff Wed and Huddersfield have more championships. Sheff Utd more cups? Crowds as good as the 3 teams I mentioned, so are they all great? Good club yes - if only for the Revie years. What I like about them is like us they are a one-team town. Couldn't beat us at Wembley! x
Exactly marra. Which is why nobody can tell me I'm wrong in saying that Hull City have become a MASSIVE CLUB thanks to Steve Bruce. please log in to view this image
