The new manager has had only a day or two training with the full squad, yet after 70 minutes chants of "Bring Back Di Canio" were heard loud and clear from the Sunderland fans at the Liberty Stadium. We used to deride our unwashed neighbours for their unrealistic expectations, worshipping each new messiah, only to turn on each one when they didn't deliver instant results. Hearing that chant today I was ashamed, for the first time in my life, to be known as a Sunderland fan.
We need to support what's in place in public and moan in private .......... some people are getting caught up in player/fan power.
I know what you're saying..but I am guessing this chant is out if sheer frustration..travelling god knows how many hours and spending a fortune doing so...to be given that kind of performance (2nd half in particular) I think they were venting their collective spleens. I doubt I have felt as low as a Sunderland fan..all the money we have spent over the last few years, a world class stadium, world class training facilities, Billionaire chairman, Amazing fan base..and look where we are...jesus christ, what have we done to deserve this
I'm sure I heard the same....... and took it as a tongue in cheek gesture from the supporters......... aimed at the lads on the pitch more than at Gus !! What I would give for a completely fresh looking lineup from Gus........ No Bardo, No JOS, No Larsson, No Johnsson !! Give them all a rest and think about their futures, what it is it they want out of SAFC???? Lets see the likes of Diakite, Moberg K, Cabral, and a Left Back from the Youth Squad. Anything..... but this garbage
What do you mean fickle? Do those fans represent everybody? No. Have the fans been split regarding Paolo? Yes.
It was not you lot singing it, I was right by your fans and it was us singing it to them. A little bit of banter, infact when we sung they went a bit angry and a fight nearly broke out. No Sunderland fans were singing that, just us.
Spot on, I wanted PDC to stay but player power rules at sunderland. short is just starting to piss me off like.
It was the swansea fans chanting that edit: I see it's already been cleared up, didn't read all of the comments
LOL you were bubbling about ONeil a few months ago, bubbling about PDC a few weeks ago now your bubbling after a few hours of Poyet That's football fans, they always bubble when they are losing
So yes, we bubbled when we lost, Manu are bubbling at the minute cos they are losing, Liverpool were hilarious when they were bubbling a couple of seasons ago, now you're bubbling, just like any other football fans !
I thought the chants were just the minority though. It was probably ironic humour, that's all. Next week is that little bit more important now methinks.
