Im not saying he did loads or made massive changes that helped us...

but he diddint feck up what hougton put in place and thats better than somebody like benitez or another crappy manager would do.

pardew also seems to be very similar to CH in his style of management and also appears to favour creativity and good football over graft and muscle.

my views are merely based off generalisations of the memories i have collated since his arrival from a variety of sources...including actual games obviously etc so dont judge me too much its just my opinion.

To be honest i liked CH and i dont mind Pardew...so i cant be too harsh on fat mike on this one, his decisions dont seem to be backfiring anymore...they seem to be fairly decent.

So why has Pardew failed at other clubs? what went wrong? and can you seem a U turn and pardew having a shocker and newkey brown back to square one?

    Apart from the contract issues.

Agree tho about Pardew, hasn't done anything that's upset me.
    Judge him come August.

He did very well at Reading, achieving promotion to Division One.

He got West Ham promoted to the Premier League

He got West Ham to the final of the FA Cup (losing on penalties)

He took on Charlton Athletic when they had the lowest points and GD in the entire league, but couldn't save them

He almost got Southampton to a play-off place despite a 10 point reduction. He also led them to win 2010 Football League Trophy Final

So he's actually done quite well for a young manager. Form has went down and he's been sacked on occasions, but which managers haven't? Look at Roy Hodgson. ****e at Liverpool, but he's turned West Brom into a much better side. Sometimes, managers just don't click with certain teams.

He's done OK, but I still don't see him as an upgrade on what Hughton was doing. Lives near me so I've seen him round the town a few times and he just luuuuuurves being recognised.

Have you asked him for his autograph? Make him feel famous.

Haven't seen him for ages, as he's presumably up in toon somewhere. But, no, an autograph is somewhat unlikely unless "it's not for me, it's for my friend, AB, a big fan of yours"..........:)

    This.

A lot of fans were understandably cautious when Pardew joined but only a few thought he was going to bomb. Try using 'I' instead of 'we' next time. <ok>

Did he not fail at Charlton being involved in two relegation seasons within 3 seasons and failing to even make the play offs in the other. I agree with Tash about the jury still being out on him, though first impression are he's probably doing well (Mind u so did Hughton).

Well i recall most people saying he's no better than hughton so why the change? so unless you thought Hughton was going to do terribly...

Not really Sid, I wouldn't ask him for one myself.

    But thanks for the thought.

I don't think he was anyone's first choice when he came, but he's settled in well. We'll be able to judge him a lot better after this transfer window, but I think he really wants to succeed as this is his chance to prove himself as a good manager, after a disappointing end at Southampton.

He took over at Charlton and they were playing poor, look certain for relegation. He got them playing much better football and came close to saving them from what most people would have called an impossible job.

They were in the bottom 3, still had half a season to save them and i know he wasn't helped by losing players like Darren Bent.

But to be fair to him they had about 12 points at Christmas, i doubt many managers could have saved Charlton then?

    Hughton was overated.

I actually prefer Pardew to him, and think he is doing a better job(in terms of managing the team in game) but can't judge on the whole until around Christmas.
