If you want a bit of rock, then this is the dogs.

Leon Russell, Eric Clapton, George Harrison, Billy Preston, plus other assorted greats.

It's the best cover of a song I've heard in my 47 years. Leon nails it better than Jagger ever did.

"A couple of songs I think they should play as the teams go out onto the pitch at SMS"

    ______________________________________________________________________________________

Why not play a song by a good Sotonian band?

Anyone recognise the pub in the Video?.... a few hundred yards from SMS.

New to the forums, thought I'd start here :)

I think I'm gonna have a completely different music taste to everyone here, judging by what's been posted so far. Currently listening to Bad Meets Evil - Hell: The Sequel but going from that to Eminem (all albums) at the moment. Oh, also a bit of Dr. Dre, Disturbed, but mainly Eminem.

The Black Angels - Young Men Dead

You can't go wrong with a bit of lo-fi psychadelic rock n roll!

    Or...

The Kills - Pale Blue Eyes (Velvet Underground cover)

I've heard so many cover versions of "Pale Blue Eyes" and that is a good one, but nothing fits that song better than Lou Reed's drawl on the original IMO.

Here's a song from Bob Mould's band Sugar from the 90's , without him there wouldn't have been Nirvana, Sonic Youth, Foo Fighters and many other bands.
Best live Guitarist that ever lived in my humble opinion. He fused Punk with melodies better than anyone.

Its funny how you get into a band.

loved the recent tv ad for visa and the 2012 olympics http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a6kbxn9PZBA&NR=1

The sound track is Take over the world by The Courteeners, purchased the album it came off, Falcon and its a classic. all from a tv ad, advertising something different. weird

mmm, advertisements as well as programs are a good way of getting into bands. I listen to ads and programs in general and there's always good tunes that are sometimes by bands unheard of, but frequently by alternative bands that are popular with certain groups. For example on the budweiser advert, a song is played by Los Campesinos! - of course, I had heard of them before that, but I could easily understand how a song that has a memorable riff or tune can lead to someone becoming a fan of said band.

I'm an indie kid myself. Favourite bands are The Smiths, Foals, Arctic Monkeys, Oasis, The Beatles, Joy Division, KOL, Bloc Party, Radiohead. Also like folk, reggae, ska, some dubstep and a bit of hip hop. Best track out at the moment (more mature posters should probably avoid!):
