QPR boss would like permanent Carroll deal Tom Carroll, QPR 18/10/2013 By David McIntyre QPR manager Harry Redknapp has indicated that he will try to sign Tom Carroll on a permanent basis if Tottenham are willing to let him go at the end of the season. The on-loan Spurs midfielder has returned to White Hart Lane for treatment on an ankle injury that is expected to keep him out of action for several weeks. After a difficult start at Rangers, Carroll has impressed in recent matches and is regarded as one of the countryâs best prospects. But he faces a battle to secure a first-team place at Tottenham and Redknapp says he would be interested in keeping him if the chance arises. Redknapp said: âIt depends what happens at Tottenham and whether they want to keep him. âIf they decide heâs not in their plans then heâs the kind of player youâd want to build a team around. But it would be Tottenhamâs decision.â Carroll was hurt while playing for Englandâs Under-21s this week and his untimely absence comes just as he was beginning to make an impact in the Championship. But Redknapp believes the 20-year-old will play a key role for the Râs as they look to get back to the top flight. âHopefully heâs not going to be out for too long, but heâll be out for a few weeks,â Redknapp added. âHe picked up a nasty injury and itâs a shame because he has been playing well for us.â http://www.westlondonsport.com/qpr/football-tottenham-news-tom-carroll-future-74632-html?
I like Carroll, but perhaps a little early to be laying cards on the table, especially if you are playing against Levy.
I should think we've got about as much chance as we had buying Townsend, and I'd prefer the latter (and I would have said that even before his excellent performances in the England shirt)
I can actually see this happening if we get promoted He strikes me as someone who cares about his career, and he'll know he needs to be playing regularly. We won't be the only club in for him, that's for certain, but I'm hoping he recognises the fact that we could build a team around him.
Would love to have him. I guess it depends how the loan goes from his perspective. If he loves life in blue and white, he may well be tempted by regular first team football. Let's not get too excited though, the sad reality is that a lot of the younger players use smaller clubs as a training ground to get experience, and move on to bigger and better things, Townsend being a prime example. Let's just enjoy watching while we can.
all the spurs fans seem to rate him, so i'd be surprised if they let him go. another season long loan if we go up isn't out of the question though i'd have thought.
I can't really comment about Carroll yet because I haven't seen him play and it's always difficult to tell with Harold as to whether he just says something because it is expected of him or he is genuine in his praise. It is however best if he is serious to keep his thoughts to himself and to Tom Carroll. Show the boy the love not the rest of the world. And especially not his avaricious employer. Mind you, hope he's back for Burnley and Wigan so that I can form an opinion about him then.
Looks like he will be out for a bit longer, sadly. He's a tidy player, linking up and a bit more. The neanderthals will label him a lightweight because he's not a giant. Bit like Ramsey, will look top class in a couple of years..
i really think that this is a bit of a non starter. maybe wait and see what happens at the end of the season.
You can't have him! ........ Was pleasing to read what Redknapp said as Carroll is a superb talent who shouldn't be sat on our bench hoping to get the odd 10 minutes to impress, so it's a great backup option for Tommy as I fully expect Redknapp to lead QPR back to the premier league next year and if he isn't wanted by Avb then playing under Redknapp would be a great move.
