Would be a good game to have Rowe on the bench. Utds full backs press up high which could him lots of space to run at in the last 15 minutes

Yeah, on an international subs bench. Make no bones about it, this is going to be a very tough game indeed. We'll need everyone playing at their best to come away with a result, and that includes selecting the strongest seven on the bench.

This game is the commentary game on 5 live for anyone out of the Solent area. We have had one other 5 live 3pm commentary, which was the Liverpool game.

I loved singing that in the Championship; as I said at the time "might as well sing it now - when's the next season I'll get a chance?" - looks like it might be sooner than I thought as it's now seriously in the realms of possibility come Saturday night.

You mean if we get points at Old Trafford andother results go our way? Still seems the odds are against us if we're being realistic.

It is unlikely but yet entirely possible. Stranger things have happened. For once, it's not as if we have to beat Man Utd 0-17 and rely on two other teams drawing 6-6.

I'm sure Davis will do OK, even if he does play. Has a good penalty record against Man Utd!

Quick bit of maths jiggery-pokery and Betfair implied odds gives us almost exactly a 1 in 50 chance of being top after the weekend.

So, you're absolutely right. "Unlikely but yet entirely possible" is an ideal phrase for a 1 in 50 chance.

Lawro predicted us to lose :emoticon-0100-smile

He gave no real argument, just thinks it's about time United 'kick-start under David Moyes.'

"it's about time". Now there's one hell of a persuasive argument.

In defense of Lawro, you would expect them to win. You'd be far less confident of that result than in most years, but it's still Man U at Old Trafford.

He also said that our strength is in attack. No mention of the best defence in the league...

Yes weird. Attack hasn't actually been that effective. YET!

Attack is the best form of defence. If we have the ball and cut down the opposition's options, they will find it hard to score. As Schneiderlin said recently in a French interview, Mauricio wants them to work hard so that the opposition player is only left with a bad option. Mauricio said in his prematch interview that our good defensive record is down to the whole team and not just the GK and back four. A shut out means that the worst result will be a draw and we have a good chance of a win. Pochettino has managed to create a team that has a good defence, but still plays attractive, watchable football. Other teams in the past (eg Leeds) have achieved the good defence but at the cost of entertainment.
