I'm not sure that previous decades were so non-PC; it's more of a case that racism, intended or not, was so deeply embedded in British society that remarks such as 'chinky' or whatever were complete the norm and thoroughly acceptable.

Flyer might love the fact that racist thoughts didn't creep into Roy's brain when he made the remark, and they probably didn't; but this only goes to show that certain throught patterns and cultural stereotypes that were once 'normal' and acceptable are no longer - and for good reason. That Roy apologised shows this.

    Husky , agree with you.

But wont get on the racism issue, as we have been there recently, and no need to dig up again.

Yes DT, it started off about Redknapp the media whore making a fool of himself. I really wish that TF would institute an HR fine system to encourage him to shut the **** up over issues other than club matters for which he is responsible.

Water off a duck's back, he generated PR for his book, he loves it.

If you expected pure facts and a pure non-fictional recount of his life, then you have no idea why people like him write ABs.

Egg on face/wobbly omlette, yeah right..... he's probably got a huge smile on his face, that he has got under the skin of the old codgers in the FA, by putting some bad press out on them.

Harry is a character, and in the pantomime world of football and the press, he is a breath of fresh air.

Fair enough. I was merely contributing to the debate which was then on-going between Flyer and Stroller.

As for Harold, he has made a bit of a tut of himself, but all in all, who cares? DT obviously has some sort of personal vendetta towards the guy over Adel.
True, he says some things which should be kept quiet, and he's bitter about the England post, but we're doing on the pitch and that remains good enough for me.

What I found interesting is that he was slating his former assistant manager Steve McLaren, insinuating he was 'lucky' to be given the job

Redknapp must have been desperately hoping that England wouldn't qualify so that his slagging of the FA and Hodgson would be seen to be justified.

McClaren was lucky to have got the England job. That was a calamity which never should have occurred. And I expect that was written long before McClaren took a post at QPR.

    Okay, ANDROS Townsend then. :emoticon-0114-dull:

So, what do you make of his statement then?

"I don't know what all this fuss is about. No offence was meant and none was taken. It's not even newsworthy".

I don't think he said that, heard it was his Dad, who is involved in the Kick It Out campaign. Not that it makes any difference, my only problem is Hodgson talking bollocks at half time -he has about 8 minutes to make his points and rambles on about monkeys...........

It was reported on Talksport this afternoon that Townsend said he wasn't offended. It was also reported that the player involved didn't have the balls to confront Hodgson but contacted a Sun reporter. Someone obviously holding a grudge through non-selection or some other gripe...

Can't understand any if it who would play a monkey in a football match
The world is very stupid if anyone thinks that one on one a man would call another man a monkey without accepting evolution
Everyone seemed to understand and accept Planet of the Apes and I noticed loads when I watched that

The story ... I would be ashamed if I wrote a newspaper bit hoping to stir up anything with such a lame hook

    Burn the press

No problem with Harold and Taarabt by the way Harold is doing brilliantly as our manager ... It's his job too

Lads Harold lies and as a man has first of all put all the blame of our failure on other people that's my beef

He hasn't come onside with our club until he has controlled all the cards

I really dislike the stupidity of fans who have eaten his cake that's all
