I am not a jack army member because I work most weekends and feel it would be a waste of money! That's called a reason not an excuse. Where before I could just pop down a couple of days before and pick one up. I understand the reason for this but this is the reason why I do not attend as many games as I used to.
I don't think it's a poor indictment of our support, that we're not completely sold out every game, a few factors to consider; Not always easy knowing exactly on match days if there are any spare at late notice (in combinations of 2 or above) As other posters have said, some don't bother trying any more because of previous failed efforts to get tickets The draw for teams like Sunderland and their style doesn't always draw the people who hanker after 'bigger match tickets' There's a recession on, and most smaller clubs are affected and even some of the supposed 'bigger clubs'. The ticketing system and membership requirements put off some of the people who can only make a few games a season. Every game is now covered on one form of media or another! Personally I have a season ticket and never ever leave my seat unused, missed one game this season (St Gallen), and maybe will miss Kuban K (due to work commitments)
Replies to this thread have not alleviated my concerns about the lack of support in the premiership. Advertising when tickets are available is fine, it's always on the main swansea fc site, you can also find it on several twitter pages like swansea city and Leigh Dineen twitter sites. The Jack army scheme is the fairest way to ensure the tickets are distributed in the fairest way. This type of scheme is not, unique to Swansea it is operated virtually throughout the Premier league, some clubs even insist that season ticket holders buy all cup match tickets as well. There's no excuse for not being able to get a ticket this Saturday just pop down to the ticket office and pick one up.
What if you want 2 side by side ,I'm not being pedantic but try it for yourself .Mate in work and his boy went to the St Gallens game , got the bug and wants to go but single seats only. I still wonder what your interpretation of substantial is ?
Because those of us that have been locked out for the third Premiership season in a row, cannot be bothered with the farce of our ticket office, for the odd crumbs that get left over after the 'Jack Army membership', and we have all got stories of trying to get two or three tickets together, and being told no chance, so if you don't mind I'll watch it live on the box every week for free, and enjoy a good ale into the bargain too, and when the club have got their act together with the expansion plans, then maybe we will get our long awaited season ticket, but I won't hold my breath, though the upside is, it's saving me £3500 per year, so I'm not going to complain too much!....................... Plastic starting to pick and choose they're games then?....................... please log in to view this image
There's a lot of 'Ticket Office' bashing that goes on, but I think it's justified sometimes. When I went and bought the European games bundle with three different season tickets (some cheaper than others), one name was put on all nine. Not a serious problem, but still reeks of an inadequate system. The website is embarrassingly bad. Whenever I want to buy tickets, they're labelled as renewals or reserved tickets. I haven't reserved any at that point and I'm not renewing anything. It's all nitpicking really, but again, it reeks of incompetence or insufficient planning. When people I work with decided to take a bunch of children, they were a party of four adults and nine children. The ticket office allocated tickets across three rows. Not all of them I front of each other. Like I said, it's nitpicking. It does all add up to a system that might put people off. If there was a more transparent and useful system, people could see that either we aren't selling tickets or the Sunderland lot haven't sold their allocation and after passing a deadline, they would be reallocated as home tickets. As for our sustainability in the premier league, we are posting profits. One of VERY few clubs that can boast that achievement. I think we'll be OK. Our premier league story is more likely to end at the hands of errant management on the field than bankruptcy.
Just come off the ticket website and there are still tickets left for Saturdays game, some support. I've read many reasons on here about seating arrangements etc but at the end of the day I don't care if I was sitting next to Jack the Ripper as long as I could watch them play, after all its the match you're paying to see. No point whatsoever in expanding the stadium, waste of time. I hate to say this but it wouldn't happen to our old enemy up the road. They're selling out every game without a problem and that's with 5000 more seats than us.
I can see to a certain extent what your saying Sbulby - I wouldnt be bothered sitting next to Jack the Ripper, but I wouldnt want my son to, having said that I tried to get two tickets next to each other for the sunderland game and the website said there wasnt any and I was only allowed to buy one at a time anyway. So I phoned them up and asked for two next to each other - not a problem - got them in my hands as well. Thought I would check the section on the internet and they are not available for purchase (think they are in the unfilled sunderland section). Therefore there are seats available next to each other but the website doesnt recognise that. Premier league on the pitch - still league two off it. So if people want to go with adjacent seats its worth a call to the ticket office
I know that everyone on here is a Swans supporter I'm not doubting that for a moment all I'm saying is that if we can't sell out premiership matches within the first few days of going on sale then I can't see how we will be able to fill a stadium of 30,000. Should we look to spend that money elsewhere It's no good just selling out for big matches, with a 20,000 capacity we should be sold out every match. The same applies to the Europa league with the offers being made of buy one get one free surely we again should be filling the stadium.
Sbubly, you mention that Cardiff are selling out a 30,000 seat stadium but did you noice on MOTD that there were a few empty blue seats dotted around the sold out the stadium for the Newcastle game.
We're not aiming for 30,000 in one hit, slowly at rate which makes it sustainable , pretty pointless at the moment and may never even come to fruition so to worry about being compared with carduff is meaniless , they couldn't fill the ground when they were in the Championship and now they've started to rapidly expand without knowing whether they'll be in the PL after this season is one hell of a risk , but that's them not us
So you are saying Sunderland doesn't have a great away following because we haven't sold out for saturday & last year? if you reduce the price of your tickets then we would easy sell 2000 tickets. 35 pound a ticket is a ****ing joke & one more thing, sunderland has a bigger away following than Swansea, Qpr & Fulham put together. Can't even sell the 600 tickets we return to you LOL I wouldn't bother trying to make your stadium bigger if I was you.
Answer = Yes £35 is the going rate in the Premier League but don't worry you will find prices cheaper next season in the Championshiop. You didn't sell out two seasons ago either, so that's three games all on Saturday afternoons and sh-it support from a self proclaimed "big" club.
Swansea ticket price is 35 pound & Arsenal ticket price is 25 pound. which one would most fans pick? if we go down we still get bigger crowds than ****ing swansea & one more thing, when your team swansea takes over 10,000 fans to the North West in 7 days then please get back to me. we took 5000 to wigan & 5000 to Bolton in the cup.
