Of course. For starters though, the "avoidance" schemes do not make benefit fraud look like chicken feed. Quite the reverse. But tax avoidance is theft by another name IMO, to answer your question. The problem has always been what is tax for? I think it is about financing public services and if that is where it stopped there would be no need for avoidance by the wealthy. Problem is, governments have a history of using it for wealth redistribution and setting ridiculous rates (98% - Labour 1978) leads people to modify thier behavious accordingly. If we had common sense in taxation, benefits provision and the NHS, this thread would be about football!
Back to the op, privatisation only works for a select few. When the utilities were sold off, we were told it would encourage competition and the consumer would benefit ! I defy anyone to back up that claim. Prices have steadily risen way above what they should have, making these companies billions in profit every year. Money that could have been ploughed back into our economy
guys, new to forum. born in hendon 50 years ago and moved to usa 20 years ago. a couple of myths about the us heatlh system. if you go to the hospital they cannot turn you away by law. they send you a bill if you dont have insurance. if you dont pay they cannot garnish your wages and it doesnt go against your credit. it just a bill you never pay. also if you are unemployed or low income you have free health care as you are if you are retired or disabled. its not as bad as its made out to be over there. anyway a point on saturday would be great.
the 3 things that i miss about england in the 20 years ive been here, re real football, real pubs and the nhs. hope the tories never do away with it. looking forward to saturday. a point would be good with fletch scoring on his return.
