I have not posted much recently for a few reasons, but the main one is i have just had enough of reading the same nonsense posted far too often that has ruined the flow and general chat that was once found on this forum. It is quite clear we have a few anti Powell people on here, some for reasons that are reasonable, and those users are more than fair in the criticisms of him and can also see the points of those defending him.

This may seem extreme to some of you, but i really do think i have had enough. Upon coming on for the first time in weeks, the first post i click on and surprise surprise a certain someone (yes you Vol) is still banging on with the same agenda that made me take a prolonged absence. Not only that but in a completely unrelated post, also decided to name drop me weeks after our little difference in logic. Can you not just let it go?

This forum used to be a refreshing read everytime i logged in, with several people with different personalities who might have disagreed but at least kept on topic and didn't start spamming other peoples threads on a different subject to get their agenda across. Acworth got a lot of flak for spamming the same stuff, i do not want a repeat of that with Vol, i do like someone who has their own opinion, but just keep it where it is valid.

This is the only forum i use bar the facebook page, and i do not really want to leave but i really do feel like i am going to have to at least for a while because i do not see this changing anytime soon.

If i do end up going, i just want to say cheers to those of you that i have had the pleasure of discussing all things Charlton with, this forum has a lot of good people and i have really enjoyed being a part of it. If anyone wants to keep in touch feel free to drop me a PM as i will occasionally check back with crossed fingers to see if things have returned to normality.

    All the best, Jimmy :emoticon-0148-yes:

I don't think that's right. It is a forum, and when things don't go well, there are bound to be disparate views on what should be done and why. Pesonally, I'd have said most of the threads stay on topic, but we're only people, and sometimes we get carried away. Don't go, it's more fun with more opinions.

Get a sense of perspective, for Gods sake. This site is well moderated, and 99% of posts are from long term, genuine fans with tongue in cheek

There are 3 million people without a job, kids are dying in Syria, and peace in the Middle East looks no nearer. And there's you, moaning about being compared to Craig Revel Horwood <whistle>

Sorry to read that you feel that way, Jimmy. If there were particular incidents which have driven you to this decision then you could always PM me or Tewkes and bring it to our attention. With the anti Powell stance - I don't think thats just true to this forum, as a quick look around at the competition tells me that there is now a % of fans that share the opinion of Vol, Ponders, kish etc. I personally don't share that opinion, but with subjects on topic I think there has actually been some healthy debate on the matter. It would be a shame if you left before CP turns it around and marches us up the table <cheers>

I should think again Jimmy, this is a Football forum where we all have different views. When it crosses over into personal abuse or abuse of someone, Rick Everitt, where he has no right of reply, then that is unacceptable. I have suffered personal abuse on another forum, as have other people and it shouldn't be tolerated.

You have good moderators on this Forum and healthy debate should be encouraged. There are Charlton fans who want Powell replaced, it isn't personal, they want what is best for Charlton, as you do.

Personally I would like Powell to stay and get us out of the position we are in. It is up to each poster to argue their case and that is what constitutes a good forum.

I've left this forum a few times, Jimmy, but, like a bad penny, I keep returning.

I think the lure of well-honed political debate is what brings me back time and time again. <devil>

As for CP: I would rather he succeed, than be sacked, and I'll be more than happy to be proved wrong.

Whoaooar. Just a point of order. Nothing has ever crossed over into personal abuse regarding Mr Everitt. He has every right to reply by simply replying! He however prefers the safety of his own site with the crowing minions. If he felt the need to put the record straight he can...lets get that right.

This is my point Vol, you clearly just like trying to wind people up. You have a different opinion on something than i do, fair enough. That is not my issue here. My issue as i stated is the constant repetition on the same set of "points" on every single topic of discussion here.

As for a sense of perspective, comparing my annoyance with the situation here to world peace issues and the world economy is clutching at straws, and is exactly why i get wound up with you sometimes. You do not discuss things for the sake of general discussion, you have a huge agenda and almost to try to belittle those who disagree with you. I have only ever seen you attempt to rubbish others opinions instead of clarifying why you feel the way you do on a given subject. That is my opinion of you anyway, and i know i am not the only user here who has had issues with some of your posts. You could be a nice guy and i have got you completely wrong but my exchanges with you on here always leave me with a feeling i am having to bite my tongue.

And Super, i agree with you there completely. However, i do not think i can name one time either Ponders or Kish have been anything other than respectful of the views of everyone on here. Typical can sometimes be a bit, erm, opinionated shall we say, but bar Lenny Henry/Tomatoegate he always sticks on topic and is a good bloke. Posting what is essentially spam is the main issue i have with this. I have read the exact same set of opinions from Vol in honestly no less than 50 posts in the space of a few days at one point, no need for it clogging up the threads we read it the first time you said it.

Vol, i have no issue with you not liking Powell, i do get wound up with seeing it plastered on a post about Spanish Strictly come dancing/Ticket prices/A review on the farming strategies of Peru.

Hopefully i have cleared up what i meant now

Yes, but Jimmy, if Vol keeps posting that stuff, it's because people argue with him (I'm one who for the momento takes a contrary viewpoint). If I or anyone else argues, surely he's going to argue back. I admit it's got a bit stale lately, but we're away at Blackburn saturday, so I'm sure we'll all rekindle the debate. If you find it a trial, feel free to withdraw, but that would be a shame from everyone's point of view, including yours.

Man up and stick with the fórum. Besides, on my Simonsen thread, you gave him a bit of a put down on what I thought was a funny (ish) tongue in cheek view of CP votes come-dancing style. Maybe he should walk away too? If we all do that, the fórum will be dead by christmas whether or not CP is still in charge.

I think the point is that whilst Vol argues and defends his position he also tries to take a personal side swipe at the poster rather than just defending his position. Whilst we can all show our frustration with other posters on here, it is a constant approach to posting by Vol and it is not new. He certainly did this on the old 606 site and once prompted me into an insult ridden response which I regretted after posting. This is the nature of the beast I'm afraid he can argue a point fairly well but cannot resist the additional personal dig.
It can become water off a ducks back with the passage oftime but can also leave members feeling that the only route to stop the offence is to cease particpation.
Jimmy, give it time, take a break and come back when you are ready.

I'm not going to close this thread, but will politely ask that we finish this here now. If there are any problems between members then as I've requested before, please speak to myself or tewkes.

We're all here first and foremost as Charlton fans. It's why I personally like to try and keep threads related to the club, as no matter how much we might have differing opinions, we all share that one massive common interest.

I have had to request several times recently that we keep things on topic - so can we all please ensure that we try to do this?

Now lets get back to discussing Blackburn this weekend <ok>

I hope Vol is not put off from posting on this site.

He is the one thing that gets me up in the morning...

I do not want Vol put off from posting, i want him to stick on topic and not be so diggy with some of his replies. Lets just leave it now and see what happens, i will stick around and see how it goes and hopefully everything works itself out

    Jimmy

I apologise if I have inadvertently offended you. Please PM me in future and I will apologise. It's all tongue in cheek. We are all bored at the moment with no Charlton news to talk about. By 5pm on Saturday we will be eulogising about a 3-0 win at Blackburn and a Marvin Sordell hat trick, scored in front of our 168 away fans :afro:

That's all very well, but discussing Blackburn would be off-topic, since this thread is about "Drivel" on this forum!
