http://tyneandwear.sky.com/news/art...-united-striker-loic-remy-walks-away-from-car A cab driver had his car written off after a crash with Newcastle United striker Loic Remy. Dad-of-three Andrew Watson ploughed into Remyâs £100,000 Audi R8 after it pulled out on him at a junction on Westgate Road in Newcastle near Newcastle United's St Jamesâ Park stadium. The cabbie and his passengers suffered minor injuries after the collision, which happened at around 9pm on October 5. Loic Remy, who had to clamber out of the passenger side due to the extent of damage to his vehicle, was seen limping away from the scene while talking on his mobile phone. Despite appearing to be injured, the French international, who is on loan to the club from Queen's Park Rangers, has since played for France and is expected to play in the Wear-Tyne derby on October 27. Mr Watson, 36, had his Fiat Scudo written-off and he was unable to work. âThe car turned right in front of me and all I could do was slam my brakes on but we hit it. My passengers were thrown forward off the seat and were all hurt. I hit my head," he told The Sun newspaper. âRemy can probably go and get a new Audi R8. With my wages Iâd be lucky to get an old banger. Friends hope I havenât damaged Remy for the derby with Sunderland, but Iâm not into football.â A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: âOfficers attended and the road was closed for a short time to allow for vehicles to be recovered. Passengers of the taxi were taken to hospital to be checked over.â Newcastle United did not wish to comment.
After the accidents I have been involved in over the last few years (only one my fault) - I have been breathalysed after all of them no matter what. It's quite a "short story" which gives very little away about what actually happened other than the fact that he "pulled out" on a taxi driver. As it says, the taxi drivers car was written off, Remy's insurance would've covered that cost but what about the loss of earnings the lad suffers because of it? Was Remy breathalysed as I would've been or was it a case of a rich bloke getting away with something a poor bloke would get done for? I also look at the line "He told the sun newspaper" and wonder whatr actually happened - christ I even check a calendar to make sure that paper and the Daily Mail are telling the truth!
If he gets found guilty I wonder where that leaves them up the road - although, with him being famous, it'll prbably be washed under the carpet and he'll do what Titus did and pay someone to take the rap! (or is that the rape!!)
Dad-of-three Andrew Watson ploughed into Remyâs £100,000 Audi R8 after it pulled out on him at a junction on Westgate Road in Newcastle near Newcastle United's St Jamesâ Park stadium. This is what happens when you get a load of foriegners over, who can't drive on the correct side of the road... High powered cars driven by ****s.. the lot of them. But seeing as he is now a mag, he's a reet ****, compared to just a ****.
It doesn't really tell you anything other than that there was a car crash and the cabby reckons it was Remy at fault. It's hardly big news. As for what the cabby gets well yes he will get loss of earnings and damages provided it is shown to have been Remy at fault as he suggests. The incident is what is known as a 'tort' and under general rules around road traffic accident compensation he has the right to be put into the same financial position as if the accident hadn't happened. I'll be honest, nothing to do with the player involved in the incident as I'm not convinced by him as a person at all but I haven't got a lot of sympathy for cabbies generally and people who run off to sell their story to tabloids don't endear themselves either.
So you know all bout the terms of the insurance AND that the cabbie ran to tell his story to the neWspaper? Some man!
Odd how he starts off so well with "It doesn't really tell you anything." Then proceeds to tell us his version.
Well I said if the account was correct then yes he will get that. I'm a qualified solicitor who worked for a couple of years on RTA's and the standard terms and conditions of pretty much ANY insurance company will cover what I said there's no requirement whatsoever for me to know that particular insurance company as there are a set of minimum things they are legally required to cover. My entire response regarding what the cabbie would get is based on IF it was the fault of Remy as I did indeed state. No guess work, no knowledge of that incident required, simply a conditional response. That good enough for you? I have no idea if the cabbie went to the newspapers and didn't say he did, only that my personal view is that people who do (and yes I implied it may have been him but it could just as easily have been someone else) over trivial stuff are taking up the space of actual news.
