    Personally I dont beleive it. Probably just lazy journalism, as he was loved there and is a leeds fan.

    I wish him the best of luck after he leaves us. It would be best I think for him to go to the Championship as he'll get more oportunities to play. He just can't cut it on Premier League any more. To finish his career in Leeds would be nice.

    Hope this happens, not even bothered about a fee but it'd give Smith a chance to shine again. He clearly loves his football but can't perform at this level any more.

    Fingers crossed this isn't just speculation as it'd work out well for everyone. <ok>

    Don't think he's ever going to be wanting for a crust of bread and he'd be going back to a club where the fans still idolise him.

    both batesy and grayson are interested in him. so it could look leeds bound but it whether hes ready to take a huge paycut! Until smithy comes out and says i wanna go back to leeds then im pretty convinced we wont see him back.

    Did you hear the quote about his pay? (Bates: ) "...He'll be on a 7 figure salary after Newcastle and Manchester United, we'll probably have to knock a nought off the end and half it for him to come here..."

    That's them offering him 3k a week then <laugh>

    Saw a Leeds fan on here before suggesting we pay 90% of his wages.

    aww yeah definately. Only problem is if hes coming to leeds it has to be purely for footballing reasons and not money! Because we dont have much, and most leeds fans would be annoyed if were to spend all our transfer budget on 1 player who is injury prone!!!

    That will be quite a stumbling block (and a test of Smith's character). He's supposedly on 50-60k p/w here
