Morning Peeps, Cannot wait for the domestic football to restart!!! Who's watching the England match tonight? What are the chances we will sign somebody before our next league game? Brian McDermott is after manure frontman Will Keane. McDermott was reportedly at manure's Carrington training ground on Thursday to watch the England U21 forward for their reserves in a behind-closed-doors friendly against the Blues. Derby County, Nottingham Forest and Blackburn Rovers are also interested in the 20-year-old. Milky beans has got me thinking, club or Country, what's more important to you?
Morning all, Hate the int. break-ruins the weekend. Rarely do you see any exciting games as they're either against minnows and are easy for the big sides, or they're big sides playing conservatively against each other, more afraid of losing than going for the win! I may watch the england game, but I will most likely give it a miss-I can't get onboard the "lick Townsend ring piece" bandwagon. I dont even think he's that good-are the england team that bad that we are now pinning our hopes on him? Years of watching overpaid primadonnas have destroyed my love for the england football team. Club over country for me-Leeds to win before England!
Morning Couldn't give a **** about country tbh mate haven't watch them since they failed in the euros. How can I watch Leeds who are pretty **** and then on international break watch England who are just as bad
Morning all. Hate international breaks but hate this season just as much. Game on tv Sunday and will watch it but more through duty than looking forward to it. To be honest, I can't remember the last Leeds game I've looked forward to. Thanks Ken you bastard. As for signings, expecting my three or four loanees I predicted to arrive over next 48 hours. Money will be no object
I know I've already put my 2 cents in, but there really is no competition between the 2 for me. As Eire says, most of time these days it feels like a duty to watch rather than enjoyment, but on the rare occasion we do stick the ball into the back of the net, I'm overcome with sheer euphoria, and cant help but go mental-x10 when I'm at a live Leeds game. When England score, I feel nothing. I may tip my bonnet if its a good goal, but with Leeds I wouldnt care how we scored. Love that buzz! im quite patriotic, and love my country, but when it comes to the national side I almost feel like a neutral...
These rules from another forum I'm on made me laugh 1) No personal insults (unless provoked at which point, call their mum or whatever you need to do to make that mu'****a look a dick) Thats it. This page is intended purely for a bit of fun and some pissing around at the expense of the cars posted, if you cannot have a laugh, try not to let the door hit your vagina on the way out.
Morning all, especially to all the hard working hairdressers of the world. I've always put the club before the country. I used to go to the internationals from the mid 70s, but stopped when I couldn't get a ticket because of all the corprates, suit wearing, sheep skin wearing glory hunter twats who jumped on the J.Charlton successful bandwagon.
Morning All, Gotta lotta love & passion. Leeds, Partick Thistle & Scotland. Love them in spades. Member of the Tartan Army & used to disappointment. (Well, from all 3 teams, tbh). Doesn't stop me, though. Love my football (well, the glimpses I get these days).
Classic case of no matter how bad you think you have it, there's always someone worse off! Please correct me if I'm wrong (because I very well may be!), but I've watched Ireland a bit over the years, and they seem to take some pride in wearing the shirt, which is more than I can say for 98% of the england squad. Would rather watch 11 lads who are distinctly average giving 110% for the shirt and the supporters of that nation than 11 guys who simply see gaining caps as another way of padding out their c.v. I dunno-maybe I'm looking at it too idealistically...
Id say you're spot on with the effort of the Irish lads. Unfortunately, previously we usually had four or five class acts in the team as well. Duff, Keane, Dunne, Given recently. Theyve now retired or as good as and whats left is distinctly average throughout the entire team. It's become as frustrating watching them knowing they are poor and will hardly ever get a result against a higher seeded team. It's little consolation really knowing their doing their best and playing with a British style of football that is twenty years out of date. The difference in technique between Germany and us Friday night was frightening
Understand the frustration Eire. Not that I'm playing a game of one-ups manship, but at least the Irish media dont start to talk about winning tournaments and being world beaters the second you get a half decent result ala england! (or do they? havent picked up the irish post in quite some time!) I wouldn't compare yourselves to germany mate-they have a brilliant team that was coached and brought through together in the right way. Getting anywhere near them would be a massive achievement. Our FA's strategy involves looking like ze germans kit wise and bigging up Townsend to the press-we are gonna smash everyone at Brazil....
Thinking about it, I dont know why the FA doesn't say right, sod it-scrap 2014 and the following Euros in 2016. I would get rid of everyone at the moment except Joe Hart, Sturridge, Milner, Chamberlain (perhaps Walcott), Wilshere and Rooney. I would then promote loads of the younger players to the senior squad, and I'm talking the likes of Jones, Smalling, Luke Shaw, Barkley, Lallana etc. I may keep Baines and Gerrard +1 or two more of the senior lads to help bed them in, but they wouldnt play much. If we qualify for those 2 tournys then bonus, but the time 2018 rolls around we should be a well gelled outfit. the Germans brought most of their younger players through together, and it has worked wonders. England find one decent prospect, the nation creams their pants, and that player is promoted straight to the starting line up to bear the burden of a nations hopes on his own (Beckham/Rooney/Wilshere). Doesn't work and we keep doing it. While we're at it I would replace Woy with a young and hungry english manager with a more modern view on the game
Smaller teams normally raise there game when playing a better team, this gives the impression of always playing out of their skins and gains the team a lot of respect. This is what I think ROI have done in the past.England on the other hand are thought of as a better team and as such are often playing teams that are considered inferior,to these teams its there cup final and they raise there game.while England under perform as they are expected to win easy. Seen an old Polish player saying they can be famous again by getting a draw at Wembley, its hard to play against this mentality.
When I read this my first thought was the same as everyone else's, I am sure - Neil Warnock is available, why have the FA not snapped him up? Then I realised it would actually amuse me if they did, so little regard have I for the England team. I would love to hear NW's team talks to that lot.
