We simply HAVE TO get this lad signed in January.
£6m is all we need to add to the pot, just £6m.
The same as we paid for Debuchy and almost ONE SIXTH of the cost of Andy Carroll.

Loic Remy will be handed the chance to seal a permanent move to Newcastle in January.

The Geordies have a £6million fee agreed with QPR for the on-loan striker, on top of the £2m they are already paying for his loan spell.

In a bid to ward off summer competition the Magpies are considering moving quickly to secure Remy, and an extra striker in the New Year – the position boss Alan Pardew wants to strengthen.

The Toon can match Remy’s wage demands, but may have a battle to persuade him to commit to the North East long term, if clubs competing in Europe emerge as interested parties.

French striker Remy has scored five goals in his last three games, and has publicly kept his options open on his next move.

Agree, leave it to the summer and Remy will be with a better team. This is our no.1 priority in January. Nothing more important than a goalscorer, let alone one who can stretch the field like he does.

Have I missed something here? All that seems to suggest is that Remy is somehow involved in a RTA. Why is the bloke going on about lost earnings, and Remy buying a new car etc. Surely that's just an insurance matter. This guy wouldn't be a non football fan on the try for something out the back end would he? Why has he felt the need to report this to the papers? Has been paid or that? Surely this is just a police and insurance matter as I say. If Remy has failed a breathalyser or done something untoward then fair enough, but at present it just looks like some greedy cnut trying to take advantage of a wealthy person.

Hope he is not injured though, we can't be without him! Did he not join up with France post this incident though?

Not convinced we'd get him. He could play at a higher level and I think he's a Ba-type mercenary who will state that he has no reason to not take more money at another club.

I would expect him to get offered that and go elsewhere - no shame in that if it's what he wants.

It would appear that he will turn down the offer of signing full time for us as he wants to keep his options open, if true this would be the second time he has snubbed us, we need to be looking for a new striker for the Jan window to bed into the team during second half of season.

I reckon he'll be part of a complete Chelsea forward line revamp. Torres is getting yet another chance and refusing to take it, Ba can't make it past the reserves. I think Mourinho will be using this season to just get things ready for next year. A new, revitalised Lukaku and taking Remy for a snip would make Chelsea extremely formidable for a good few years.

That said, Remy could be taken by either North London club. Even Man U might fancy it, with VanP heading the wrong side of 30. Hernandez in, Remy out for the Toon?

He's a hot property and he'll be a hard act to follow. I just hope he'll stay with us.

I think we'll be lucky to keep him. Basically if we don't get the deal done in the next few weeks I think we can forget it because the lad will keep scoring.

I think he seems fairly settled here actually. Looks to be enjoying it. The french connection has no doubt helped him settle he is getting picked for france hoping all this might stand us in good stead.

Best finisher we've had since Shearer.

He's like a brilliant mix of Ba and Cisse and then some added talent. He can finish instinctively but also think and place the ball brilliantly into the net. He can out jump players and power-head balls into the net. He also has pace, intelligence and dribbling ability.

We should sign him up as soon as possible. He looks every bit a 20+ goals a season striker. I know we said this about Cisse, but Cisse is a wild cannon. You don't know what's coming. Remy is the sort that will score goals without too much brilliance, but will get the job done.

Being isolated up here in the frozen North hasn't done his International career any harm.
