One of the best was Rotherham away in the FA Cup with SKP scoring four when we won 5-0, what a sh1t hole their ground was, the worst was in Hull for another FA Cup 2nd replay against Leeds, we took over the place that night, lost to a very very Dodgy penalty in the last few minutes, then had to run a gauntlet of bricks and bottles from the Leeds fans when trying to get out of the stadium, Happy days.

In 1999, Sunderland Centre Forward Niall Quinn was forced to don the gloves with 13 minutes of the game left after regular keeper Thomas Sorensen was stretchered off. Quinn kept a clean sheet as Sunderland beat Bradford City 1-0 having scored the match winner only minutes before going in goal…Quinn had previously saved a penalty from Welsh International Dean Saunders while playing for Manchester City.

Still hunting down the Barnsley one !?!?

Last season's 3-0 was great from the minute we arrived in Newcastle.

But I still have a soft spot for the 4-1 Gary Rowell match ...... in their seats, shouted my head off and the worst thing I got was half a pie hoyed at me <laugh>

Hillsborough v Norwich was unbelievable but I remember Burnley being top too. Think it was the last game of the season and about 13k travelled in a total crowd of 21k. Had a pint in the bar under the stand which was full of our lot before the match for some reason and 3 sides of the ground cheering when we scored. Proper good atmos, can't remember the score!

Hull away first game of some season (can't remember what season) got beat 3-0, got crushed in a hillsborough type incident, got arrested for fighting with Leeds fans on the A1 who were returning from their match with Newcastle but all in all a great day out. Again we had three ends of the ground and again took over the town. Remember one shop where everyone was just helping themselves (not me mind) and someone threw an orange off the owners head and someone shouted "He's had a Jaffa" Happy days

I was there mate. 5-1 Phillips got 4 and Quinn got 1.

We went to a social club before the match and we too were welcomed by the natives. Great day out but I remember there being close to 5,000 of us and only one bog in our end. People were just pissing where they stood

    Great day and great laugh!

A bit of beef I reckon!

I was also in the Mag seats when we won there in the play-offs.
We'd managed to get some tickets from Charles Harrison, Metro Radio, and all promised to keep our mouths shut. That lasted until Gates scored!

Fortunately the 3 of us were at the very top of the stand so didn't make an easy target. As it happened the Mags were so gutted at the end they just trudged out.
We were expecting a 'reception committee' when we left but they'd all skulked off home.

Last season was the first time I'd managed to get in with the Sunderland supporters in 4 attempts!

One of the few games where our huge following failed to encourage the home supporters to keep away from us.

Tranmere away - we were promoted that season but think we lost the match 2-0. At the exact moment tranmere scored the first the display board showed boro had just conceded, tranmere fans were celebrating, we were celebating. Great day, travelled down with the hebburn branch dressed as the blues brothers singing our heads off and having to piss in a bottle because the loo NEVER worked!

You're right, both full backs early on ....... what I remember that day is the Sunderland crowd raising the roof when the Lads came out for the 2nd half and the players looking over.

I was in the Kippax for that match quite close to the Sunderland fans. Only 16 and got a few looks when we went 2-1 up (Gabbiadini's one of the best goals I have seen live, the whole move and finish was top class). The end was good people exchanging scarfs over the fence and City happy they won but I remember they wanted Luton to go down that day so were almost apologetic. Parked car in Moss side and had to pay a kid £1 to watch it i.e. not burn the f**ker out!!
