On a loosely related note , Poland is expected to have almost 20,000 fans at Wembley for their home game..sorry, away game, tomorrow night. I find this surprising given that Mr G.Brown assured us "only 16,000" would settle in the UK after accession ? EasyJet flights from Krakow must be rammed today then . On a positive note, this must be the first time that our Polish EU brothers have actually spent some money in the UK. They are usually to be found sitting in the local park at the weekend, huddled round a large bottle of Diamond White and a dozen straws.
Had some Polish workers do some work on my house. They were cheap, hard working, conscientious and pleasant. They also did a very good job. I think we should get some more in and send some of the English work shy chavs that think the world owes them a living to Poland. Getting back to the Football, we need every advantage to win our home game against Poland and the FA selling 18000 to Polish supporters does not help us.
A poor decision from the FA. Not as bad as their inability to sort out the corporate seating fiasco though.
Utter bollocks, dick. Where did you pick that old chestnut from? The Guardian? The BBC? The Jeremy Kyle Show? This country needs more Poles like it needs more Roma Big Issue sellers. With three million sitting on the dole, all this government can do is heap more migrants onto the benefit bill. Clean up this site, please, Moderators. The lazy stereo-typing is not on.
Can we just keep it on topic? We are detracting from CC's original post. Everyone has a view on immigration, but this thread isn't the place to share it. Feel free to take the debate over to general chat
Think you might be right, Ted - two goals in the game vs. Latvia in June 2007, just before he left us. he actually scored more international goals in his time with us (6) than he did for CAFC (4), but of course one of the four was that goal... Colin Cameron would have answered this question in a nanosecond.
It is technically 'on thread', because without Poland's wonderful accession to the EU not only would sales of £5 puffa jackets from Primark not have experienced the boom they have, we would also not have witnessed one of the all time great Polish exports. Pawel Abbot.
I have said it a millions time before, but I will say it again: Pawel Abbott is the worst player ever to wear the hallowed shirt of CAFC. His 'performance' in the 0-0 at Barnet (FA Cup) is the single most appalling I have had the misfortune to witness in 27 years. His goal against Swindon was pretty good, though.
I remember the one really good game Abbott had, early in Powell's rain when we played Peterborough at home. 1-0 down at half-time and he came on, with the entire ground thinking 'how on earth is this going to change anything?'. But it did, and he got a deserved goal as we came back to win 3-2. Apart from that, though, he was rubbish, and it was telling that the best goal he scored for us (the one v Swindon you mentioned) meant nothing. One similarity between him and Church did strike me though (not that I want this to happen, obviously): Abbott scored 2 goals in the League Cup 1st Round at Shrewsbury in the game when we went 3-0 up before losing 4-3. Church also scored 2 in the League Cup 1st Round at home to Oxford, and has struggled to find the net since.
Apparently Pawel Abbott has scored 5 goals in 4 games for his new Polish club - Which joker put that on Wiki?
