    http://tyneandwear.sky.com/sunderland/video/85276/sunday-supplement-sympathy-for-sunderland-fans-and-doubts-over

The Sunday Supplement panel discusses Gus Poyet's suitability for the Sunderland job, and expresses sympathy for Sunderland fans and Kevin Ball.

Gus Poyet was appointed as Sunderland head coach last week, after Paolo Di Canio was sacked following seven months in charge at the Stadium of Light.

And while Oliver Holt from the Daily Mirror is backing Poyet to succeed where Di Canio failed, Charlie Wyett from The Sun on Sunday says Poyet is the wrong man for the job, and that Sunderland will be relegated this season.

Oliver Holt said: "He (Poyet) comes with a good reputation, and I think he has a very distinct philosophy.

"He is certainly the kind of man who will be there for the long-term, and will bring some structure and order to a place that descended into chaos - predictably, you have to say - under Paolo Di Canio.

"I think the problem Sunderland fans have, and Paolo Di Canio has, is that they allowed Paolo Di Canio to sign so many new players that Gus Poyet is going to be expected to make the best of those players, it's a long time until anyone else can arrive."

But Charlie Wyett said: "I think it's a bad appointment. I think Poyet was very lucky to get the job.
"I can't quite understand why Sunderland went for him, I think there were better options out there, Neil Lennon at Celtic, Malky Mackay at Cardiff.
"I think Poyet has got a lot to prove, I think Sunderland are going down.
"I would love to be proved wrong, but I can't see any way back for them at all."

This bloke hasn't got a clue - Malky Mackay FFS

    As Neil Lennon is proven…?

Malky Mackay is going to leave a club where he has (or did have) his own setup rather well…

Would love to know how 'pundits' and journos keep their jobs

As if we want sympathy off the press when they've done nothing but ridicule our club for 6 months solid and doing everything in their power to pummel our reputation. ****ers.

As for Malky pissing Mackay and Neil bastard lennon. One only has 7 games more premiership experience than Poyet and the other is completely unproven in a one club fizzy pop league. Both play ****e football anarl.

Exactly - this Charlie Wyett has sympathy for us Sunderland fans as he sits there saying we are not a good team, we've appointed the wrong man and we're going down. Cheers! <doh>
Well I hope we do prove him wrong so we can all ram it down his throat :steam:

Is Ellis still paying Steve bruce's contract off ! as well s MON's and Di canio's, we should have Got Mancini and all this would have been avoided, as soon as Ancellotti's contract is up get in for him, then we can finally do the business. Lennon has it easy in the Scottish premier a league even the mags could win each season !.

I've never quite got my head around him... He doesn't seem to be a mag or a WUM really, and he never replies to anyone regardless so he's surely not on here trying to get a rise out of people, but some of his posts are just.... bizarre. Will feel a bit bad if it turns out he's a genuine SAFC fan but just a bit... mentally challenged?

To be fair to Charlie Wyett he actually talked up Sunderland and praised our fans and said we deserve better so I think the OP should put his full quotes on instead of singling out one point he made.

The bloke has an opinion on Poyet, he might even be right but thats no reason to slate the bloke after he actually stuck up for the SAFC fans.

'Sticking up for Sunderland fans doesn't exclude you for criticism on other matters though does it?

What does he know about Poyet?

Was Moyes lucky to get the Man Utd job after winning absolutely nothing with Everton and having very limited European experience?

Saying Poyet was lucky is a poor thing to say.

Don't think Poyet is lucky - the job at our place has seen some managers with good backgrounds crash and burn. I think Poyet is brave, not lucky.

Got a point there mate, if he was that lucky we would have passed him over.
Another manager that we as a club will make or break, as for the journos on Sunday Supplement they don't get football up here unless it is the nags and even they are getting the lickings of a horse sorry dog at the minute, I seriously doubt they ever get to games North of Manchester lads and, also doubt they get to many of our games.
Let them spout their drivel and let us shove it right back up them at the end of the season by just staying up.

It doesn't but the guy had plenty good to say about our fans so I think he deserves a bit for respect when voicing his views on Poyet.

He also said he would love to be proved wrong about Poyet and for it to all turn out good, cant wait for Swansea now, for once this season I am feeling a bit excited about a game.

OK - so shall we analyse Charlie's wise words:
"Well I don't think they are a very good team" - not much sympathy there!
"And I think he's (Poyet) was a bad appointment , he was lucky to get the job, he was tactically out thought by Ian Holloway" - probably more to do with Holloway having "Zaha" to call upon.
"I can't quite understand why Sunderland went for him, I think there were better options out there, Neil Lennon at Celtic, Malky Mackay at Cardiff." - Really! OK Lennon has some credibility but neither of them were available.
"I think Poyet has a LOT to prove, Sunderland are going DOWN, I'd love to be proved wrong, but just don't see any way of turning it round." - Just listen to the way he said that man, he does not like us at all.
"I feel sorry for Sunderland's fans because their support is superb" - Well said Charlie <applause>
"Gates have still been pretty impressive, I was up there for the Arsenal game, they were backing the team" - Nice one Charlie. <ok>
"It was interesting watching Sky Sports News, interviewing all the fans the day the Poyet announcemant was made and I don't think they were very happy" - Chuckling to himself as he extracts the urine once more.
"It's a winnable game against Swansea as they're not in a good place, but even if Sunderland win that (Swansea) one I don't think they will be getting many more" - good bye & good luck Charlie.

    I rest my case m'lud.
