A person should be classed as a citizen of the country their parents had a permanent home in at the time of their birth.
I have no problem with somebody wanting to take on citizenship of another country later in life but when it comes to the country they decide to represent in sport the rules need tightening up.

at the end of the day people are only "representing" that country. i can remember when canada "cheated" at the olympics by giving a load of Jamaican athletes Canadian citizenship so they could represent them. these days it is a real grey area and it is down to the governing bodies of the sport to decide where to draw the line.

And maybe we should all draw the line here too ?? Been an interesting exercise, with lots of differing views. Good luck to sportsmen and women all the world over, whichever country they represent. Without them the world would be a lesser place.

None of that has anything to do with what I said.
