Traditionaly yes but not this time around. Mexico are beyond **** and wont make the world cup. The only real threat we had was Costa Rica this time around but since 2 teams make it and the third goes to a play off there was really no threat at all this time around. To be fair our national team is pretty decent now days. Not all that good of players but they play very well together.
USA can’t help the standard of their opposition and it’s worth remembering that pre Italia ’90, qualification was tough for them which shows their overall improvement over the years. Also, the big European countries usually find it easy to qualify from UEFA groups anyway, Italy, Germany et al.
Montenegro are a proper set of ****s. I hate these international refs who give nothing for wrestling in the penalty area and I hate Montenegro who do the same thing every ****ing time. I think we've only ever played them 4 times and they've had me screaming at the telly every time. Could do with a bit more width or something. Come on England.
I understand you're a big England fan but don't get the antipathy toward Montenegro. They're well punching above their weight and play to their strengths - fair play to them.
First half is absolutely appalling. Montenegro (with a population less than Bristol) look nervy at the back but, Oh my, England have absolutely no invention from midfield whatsoever. Even simple passes inside the full-back to enable Baines or Townsend to run onto and cross are not being made. Not one single decent cross into the box from wide. Rooney should have scored when he hit the post. Best player have been Sturridge and Townsend. NOT FCUKING GOOD ENOUGH!!
The way i see it is we're trying to pass like barcelona but it's not our ****ing style. Hoof the ball and get your ****ing head on it ffs. We're faffing about around the box as always.
Every time he goes to kick the ball it bounces off in some random direction The US side isn't too bad, but when your biggest rivals are Costa Rica it's not much of a competition for qualifying.
My problem with the England team nowadays is that they play such boring football. Am I wrong in thinking that? It's all about trying to control the play and possession football. I miss the crazy end to end stuff. Of course it means we concede fewer goals but it's just so ****ing boring now. 0-0's look more likely these days than 2-2's
