Daily Mirror reporting we've won the race to sign him hope its true as he looks an amazing talent; would probably mean the end of evans utd career which would be a shame he showed a lot of promise until last season and even started to come good towards the end of the season. Just wanted to get your guys opinions on jones and if you think he'd be a good buy. Also was a bit bemused by the mirror headline they said we'd HAVE to pay 16million like its a bad thing; for me when carrolls worth 35mil and hendersons worth 20mil + Ngog i think 16mil is a steal for a player that for me looks a better talent than both those two.
Mixed feelings, I still think Evans is a good player and has potential despite his drop in form. Was just a confidence issue I think.
Completely agree; i remember his first 2 seasons or so when he was breaking into the first team he was top class looked the best young defender around and i do still believe he could make it but i cant see him stayin as unless he finds his form soon hes last choice CB; if he does leave someone like spurs should snap him up though because hes got such talent. needs to buulk up though as he looked so weak against the stronger forwards
Jones admitted he was a Liverpool fan and wants to go to Liverpool so if we are in for him ,we'll get him. If we aren't in for him and you's are you's will sign him, fair play. defo looks a quality player in the making.
It'll be like this all summer tbh. As soon as any English player looks to be leaving, journos will just say that United and Liverpool are looking to sign them even if we aren't.
I agree with Red Until a certain player has his mug plastered over the back wearing whatever club shirt and brandishing aloft a scarf, with the price tag still attached, accompanied with the statement "It's a chilhood dream come true" then I not going to take any notice of the media.
Latest rumours on manutd.com say that Bolton are looking to buy Jonny Evans for around £8 million. I'd guess that's because we're either going to get Phil Jones or Raphael Varane as a replacement CB. It's a bit of a shame for Jonny, cos he was very close to breaking through to the first team on a regular basis, but I don't think he quite has the consistency and concentration levels we need at United.
The whole betting suspended thing is more an attempt by the bookmakers to rebalance the odds rather than necessarily a reflection of reality. They suspended betting on Ozil to join United last summer, and look where that ended up!
Well it may not be the end for Evans if Brown was to leave and Ferdinand spends most of his time in the treatment room these days. If it were I would be sad to see it because I rate Evans highly. Plus I love seeing a Northern Irish player living the dream.
SSN now reporting Jones could sign for Utd...... the funbus keeps rolling!! Don't ya just love transfer season!
Would like Jones... him and Smalling would have time to gel too.. They already play alonside each other for the U-21s So would be good allround imo.
www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11667_6970750,00.html Looks like he's ours now. I'm happy with that. He's really impressed me at Blackburn and is English and under 21 to boot.
Yeah... he's impressed me for a while too. I had always thought he'd end up at Chelsea for some reason though. Whether we land him or not, I'm pleased with the intent it seems we're showing summer. Jones, Young and De Gea would be £45-50 million pounds worth. But I hope Young isn't our only midfield signing.
just saw this on sky sports news..my first reaction was WHY!??! better than evans, but won't be first choice for a few years yet. smalling was fantastic last season and was arguably our best performer in defence except vidic, so is jones a replacement for evans? fergie has said we'll be looking to sign 2 or 3 players. we're crying out for a gk, left winger and a central midfielder, maybe even 2. a centre back is hardly high on our list of priorities. im hopeful of a good summer but it could well be another one that passes by without fergie addressing our embarrassingly poor midfield. again.
