So then. What do you think of the names in Greg Dyke's task force to improve the English team.
Names on the task force are:

    Howard Wilkinson
    Dario Gradi
    Glenn Hoddle
    Danny Mills
    Ritchie Humphreys
    Greg Clarke
    Roger Burden

Are these the people to help move our game forward?

Howard Wilkinson Last English manager to win the Premier League but his teams best described as dour
Dario Gradi Excellent and consistent track record of developing young talent (including Dean Ashton)
Glenn Hoddle Great player sadly not given the number of caps his talent deserved. Did not disgrace himslef as a manager but equally did not set the world alight as a manager - very reluctant to recognise Michael Owen's talents
Danny Mills Articulate pundit but not sure what he brings to the table
    Ritchie Humphreys Who he?
    Greg Clarke "
    Roger Burden "

Apparently Danny Mills wrote a very good paper to the FA with his opinions and Greg Dyke was impressed

gradi, wilkinson and hoddle i would welcome. apart from danny mills i have never heard of the rest.
the most dissapointing thing is the premier league declined to join - so the FA and premier league are not going in the same direction. oh dear oh dear.

marginally O/T, but related to the english game, i was reading in the paper at the weekend that John Beck, infamous ex-Cambridge manager, king of hoofball, is now in the coaching set up at St Georges.
<yikes> truelly worrying as he was completely obsessed with long-ball tactics

The last two on the list are the chair and vice chair -(from a quick search) of the football league-

They will change nothing. Cash is king, the Premier League rules, it is a waste of time. One overpaid talking shop, well intended but doomed!

Didn't Ritchie Humphreys play for Sheffield Wednesday in yesteryear?

Why do the f.a. go out of their way to look stupid? Where are the intelligent ex professionals who understand the game. The ones who have a greater grasp on the reality of the state our national team is in.

Richie Humphreys is the new Chairman or should that be Chairperson? of the PFA who has taken over from Clarke Carlisle <ok>

On the main point I just think that this is one big PR stunt! Hardly surprising when you have a former PR man as head of the FA! <ok>

I'm willing to let this run it's course, we don't really know what the effect it will be but I see no reason writing it off before they have had a chance to do anything or even announce their plans.

Dario Gradi and Glenn Hoddle will help, I have a lot of confidence with those two developing our footballing culture, Wilkinson is a bit of an FA dinosaur I can tell his in there to shatter any non conservative ideas e.g. his the company man, the others I don't know what to make of.

I don't get your point? They have Danny Mills, Glen Hoddle and a current professional chesterfield player (who is also the PFA chairman). That is supplemented by Dario Gradi who has a fantastic record of nurturing young talent. They haven't gone for (or haven't got) the England legends that might have made good headlines. What they have is a knowledgeable group, who will realise that many of the best teenagers may be in the academies of unfashionable teams.

Listening to what Glenn Hoddle has been saying and he's certainly got the correct ideals.

Howard Wilkinson is the last person I'd want investigating English football, he contributed greatly to the kick and rush which blights the English game.

Alas, no foreigners in the group that I would have thought would be vital to stop the constant inbreeding of ideas and concepts.
