Slow week around here so here's my ratings on our present squad. Anything 6 or above is Prem quality (9 is England national squad quality). 5 or below is Championship quality. Interested in what other posters think. To me this is easily the best group of players we've ever had. Huddlestone 9 Davies 9 Brady 8 Chester 8 Livermore 7 Aluko 7 Figueroa 7 McGregor 7 Koren 7 Elmohamedy 6 Quinn 6 Faye 6 Boyd 6 Gedo 6 Harper 6 Meyler 6 Rosenior 5 McShane 5 Sagbo 5 Graham 5 Bruce 4 Cairney 4 Jakupowicz 4 Dudgeon 4
Think its far to early to judge any players, a good start but thats not good enough if we don't continue it as we nearly found out in our first Prem season.
You've given 5 for Rosenior who has already proved he's PL quality before? Sagbo hasn't had enough time on the pitch to judge him yet Elmohamady has work to do to prove he's 6 rather than 5 (we know he's a good Championship level) Faye is probably around 7, perhaps ageism has pulled him down to a 6? Gedo should be good enough but we don't know yet.
Meyler isn't a 6. If this is a comaprison for the whole league, 9 seems a bit high for Davies and Hudd, and for Chester.
I've based my ratings largely on how they've played for us so far this season rather than on past performances or an opinion as to their talent/quality. So players like Cairney and Dudgeon may be rated lower than their quality suggests. Sagbo is a tough one to rate and Gedo may be the exception to my criteria.
Stupid idea. How can you possibly rate the players after 7 games? You could mention stand-outs but you couldn't possibly slate too many of the players considering the difficulty of the away games we've had (Chelsea, Manchester City & Newcastle) and the 'settling-in' stage for the new players. Huddlestone, Livermore, McGregor and Davies are certainly the stand-outs so far IMO.
No offense CANADATIGER, but all responses to your original question seem to me valid, including Candy Man's undiplomatic "stupid idea", but the rest of his post bears more relevance to the opinion I think you are trying to get at. Perhaps your question should be phrased thus ? How do you rate City's players against any similar (position or role) player on other prem league teams (1-10).....In other words, are there less than 9 better players in the Prem. League in our player's position or role ?).... .the assumption is you must have watched most of all games played this season.....we do see most over here in Toronto, so I assume you do in BC. I would imagine most back home see most games, or at least the highlight programs ( Match of the Day etc etc). ? 2) Given that rating, what impact may they have on gaining points for City in future games ? ( 1-10 rating again). I could be suggesting a load of crap here, unless of course you're just asking for internal ratings...which to me doesn't say much about our prospects....you'd just asking who do you think will end up being our player of the year. I would personally say maybe Huddlestone & McGregor & Davies rate 6. Brady & Aluko & Livermore 5, the rest 4 or less. That may be enough to stay up at the end of the season, as probably 6 or 7 other teams will have a lower distribution of ratings.
Hi TC. I was trying to keep it simple. I've watched most of the other Prem games but am probably not qualified to rate them against other players in their positions in the Prem. Was just trying to give my opinion on our players from what I've seen of them after 7 games. That will probably change by year end but for now thats it. Was just curious what others thought. Meyler probably should be a 5 and I forgot Proschwitz. 4 for him.
