ALONSO STANDS BY CRITICISMS Alonso's criticisms of the tyres met with a terse response from Hembery, who suggested that the Spaniard should learn about how to drive the tyres from Sebastian Vettel. Alonso said he was happy that the matter had been closed, but he stands by his original criticisms of the tyres. "I didn't know if the comments were right or not, so we called him [Hembery] here just to explain if he said that," said Alonso. "He didn't know the complete sentence and he apologised. It's good from him to apologise after a mistake because he misunderstood what we were saying. "We said that the tyres were not able to do five kilometres, which is a fact, not words. We said that there are marbles. "You have two metres of racing line; it's a fact, not words. "And we have problems this year with the tyres, we saw the last one with [Sergio] Perez today. It is a fact, not words." Ooooooo, he's pulled out the FACT card
Well, i have to side with Alonso here. I always said those marbles suck big time and they reduce the possibility of overtaking, which is a shame.
A few stats and FACTS Alonso might like. Back to back grand slams had only been done twice before, by Ascari in '52 and Clark in '65.
I think because of where the start line is compared to Red Bulls pit box Vettel technically crossed the line first on every lap.... maybe?
I am no Schuey fan but he is probably talking about the Benneton days where it is arguable that the Williams was better. He also made a run at the title against Mika, where again the McLaren was viewed as a superior car adding weight to the fact that he has won or competed for titles that he did not have a significant advanatge in. Whether this is correct or not is irrelevant, until Vettel wins a WDC or competes in what the public "percieve" as equal machinery he will not be afforded the respect people "think" he deserves. It is a matter of opinions and my (your) perception is my (your) reality. The most obvious point to note, is that (IMO) you can't be classed as a GREAT until you have finished your career and your results can be reflected on more pragmatically.
Anybody want to do the honours of the japanese thread? Some Pre-predictions: Di Resta Is Faster Than You - Vettel JonnyBaws - Vettel (India too) See I remembered
I think I made the same point after the last race, technically he didn't lead the whole race, as Rosberg overtook him for a few seconds, but he did complete each lap in the lead
