You don't need to bow to my knowledge fella, just bow to what our manager says instead. Im sure that Laudrup knows the fitness levels of his players better than Gary Neville ? watching the 90mins there wasn't a time where I thought we looked tired , there were plenty of times where I thought we were **** but not tired, mentally or physically, they manager tends to agree
i hope we dont get to the point where we urgently need replacements in the january window to cover injuries and L.O.F.T !
I see a lot of peeps critisizing Shelvey. Am I the only one who thought that he was one of the best players on the field? His long passes to the wingers were rather ambitious but they did hit the target the majority of the time. This was at times when the Swans had difficulties passing through the cramped center. If the wingers had the precision to make a decent cross, he would be the mastermind behind a couple of goals I reckon. And then there was his long run from center of the pitch to the box that was almost converted into a goal. I thought he was one of our best offensive weapons. I might have to re-watch the match though.
Thought Shelvey had a decent game, he did put some lovely balls out to Dyer and Routledge. One real gripe, what the hell was Mike Dean doing giving a corner when Dyer never touched the ball, just glad he then disallowed the resulting goal for the corner. I don't need much more to despise that man!!
The linesman flagged for a goal kick but Mike Dean overruled it. To be fair, apart from that I didn't think he was that bad today or when he reffed us against west brom. Maybe he's been told that his hatred for us is becoming too obvious and he's trying to mask it a little
He didn't come out and say it -but he did slip in that the Swans had played 7 games in 20 days (four of which were away). In the same period Saints played five, four of which were at home. Any sports scientist will tell you which team will be sharper both physically and mentally. In reality we were sitting ducks today - it is a credit to the team that they were still in the game right up until the 83rd minute,
Sorry NJ, but I would take the word of Gary Neville quite seriously about a players reaction to a midweek fixture. Gary Neville played for Manchester United, a team at the peak of the British game (the same league we are in funilly enough) so if a player from Man Utd has said that midweek games can take it out of you, then you can be damned sure I will take his word. Am sure you may agree that the physicality of the premier league is much different to that of European countries, that alone will take its toll on players, not to mention that St Gallen played out of their bloody skins. We played a tough game against Arsenal, followed by a crazy game against St Gallen, of course our players will feel it, you reckon Michu was feeling 100% after his mid week happenings? Sorry buddy, but you need to take a step back and have a proper look at who we are again. Our players are sportsmen, not robots.
Yup. Football at the top level is so athletic and competitive now it doesn't take much to make a difference. I think I'll go on the Soton forum for a while. Lot more +ve about us. e.g. Routledge got a lot of stick but I noticed as soon as he went off they had several dangerous attacks down the right.
I can't believe we didn't get anything today. More shots and possession and the MOM was their keeper. We will play worse than this and win in the future
Its all very well banging on about being tired but that wasn't the reason we lost the game !! I agree players are not robots but that has nothing to with us losing today! we were at home on Thurs and Laudrup had Vorm,Shelvey,Rangel, canas and Dyer fresh ! that's half the team guys ! Laudrup didn't put this defeat down to tiredness he put it down to us not converting chances, I put the defeat down to us being **** at the back . If we were in febuary after playing a **** load of games then id understand but the games have been shared out between players and we are bearly 2 months into the season so saying we lost because we were tired or tiredness played a part doesn't wash with me or indeed Laudrup PS As I said, what does Gary Neville know about the Swans ? not as much as Mr Laudrup !
Should've beaten a poor Southampton but we didn't! Get over it! We had several chances to score but failed to convert them - they had two chances and converted both - so tbh they were worthy winners! But not all doom and gloom! We dominated after the first twenty minutes and should have won that game! But we didn't! So credit to Southampton - you are punching above your weight - but have your goalkeeper to thank for the points! But we will come back!
I had to listen to the game on 5 Live and Tony Pullis immediately predicted a free kick to us after Dean had given the corner and realised he had cocked it up and lo and behold he did!
Your right their, as I ddin't see much wrong with the goal to be honest. Still can't stand Mike Dean.
I Think my fellow poster is refering to your lofty position in the league Fair to say on the evidence i saw yesterday you Are mid table and at this moment in time ahead of our team . I Think us,you, wba,Norwich and one or two others Will battle for 9th to 15th. Personally i would be happy to just stay up , i Think Europa league Will take its toll but its very hard to work out where our true level is with the fixtures we have had and the timing of them. There has been alot of money spent on your team and they look like a solid side to me, could be a good bet for a cup run, we play better football but you Are getting the results! Id prefer to be in your shoes right now ! Good luck for the season
Just a point on tiredness ,one minute playing on Thursday wasn't a factor then you make that statement perhaps it is already starting ? .Two days recovery time has to be factored in ,it was a physically demanding game of which Michu for example may still have been still feeling the effects . Pointless beating our selves up about it ,everyone can beat each other at the moment 0-3 West Ham v Spurs ,who had that down as a result
Coming from a saints perspective, I thought Shelvey was one of your best players on the pitch along with Dyer and Routledge. Shevley's passing was spot on alot of the time, some of the balls he was whipping out to the wings were spot on. You can see since going to you and no longer being in Gerrards shadow he has improved as a player. Dyers pace just caused Fox issues at left back, was unlucky to hit the post I think Shaw would have struggled to contain him at times. Also nice to hear the "He robs from the skates" chant echoing St Marys again. Routledge had a nice bit of link up play and decent runs at goal. Nice to see 2 footballing sides yesterday, we were noway near at our best yesterday and were lucky to come away with the 3pts in my opinion. But thats football. Good luck with Europe, hope it doesnt cause you to many problems in the premiership. Nice to see a team playing football rather than for example West Ham Hoofball.
Think it's going to be that sort of season. The league is very congested even for this early on. A couple of wins and you are top 6.
