Have to say i was a bit pissed off with those giving out the leaflets, especially the guy i walked past outside the East stand. He thrust one in my hand and when i gave him it back he decided to have a go at me for not being a true fan who cares for the club. Now i fully agree with what they are doing and i sincerely hope something comes from it, but to have some complete stranger telling me im not a true fan is hardly the best way to encourage my support of the cause. Im sure his buddy with him mumbled ****er under his breath as i walked away. Not a good advert at all, very disapointed
I agree, very childish indeed. Collecting leaflets then being rude to people just to put people off the campaign. In fact it's more than very childish, it's very very childish.
On the railway crossing, from Argyle street, they were just thrusting the leaflets into everybodies hand as you walked past with no mention of their cause. If this is their way of "having their say" then nobody was impressed. There were , literally scores of discarded leaflet along that walk into the KC. This must have cost them the argument, if argument it is ! To me, it's just a difference of opinion. As the match progressed, most of us were concerned with other things ! !
There's far too many of you with this attitude: looking to be offended so you can moan about it later while saying you agree with the cause...
so to claim how ever many thousand leaflets handed out/accepted does seem at odds with these facts. not blaming the generals of this battle (to use the war phrases OLM seems to like using) but the soldiers on the ground - hopefully they can stop this happening in the future as i'm certain Hull City Council have better ways of spending their limited monies than clearing up numerous leaflets.
Similar thing happened to me. So I simply tried to reply by selling him double glazing. He seemed pissed off that I tried force summat on to him in the street in an unsolicited fashion. Touche Mister!!!!
I encounted 2 seperate groups handing out leaflets and badges, none were pushy, they represented differing ages and both men and women so were a good cross section of our support, all were a credit to the campaign group. Apathy is bad enough but why some City fans seek to undermine the campaign and the volunteers who have given up their own time and money is shameful.
To be fair the guys handing them out to me where brilliant, nice, didn't have to take one but explained the cause etc...
Horse ****. All over the walk way behind South Stand. I'd save the council some money by making pacifists in the battle like you clear up all the Horse ****.
I am sorry to say this and I really mean sorry on so many levels, but the 1904 campaign yesterday demonstrated one thing and that was the complete and utter apathetic nature of the majority of Hull City supporters. My view has now changed. At 1904 for the vast majority of people (I cannot bring myself to say supporters) did not bat an eye lid. Not one single voice in around the 1000 or so sat in and around me. Including from what I could see, leading lights in the OSC. This is a disaster in terms of the "City till I die" campaign. If it is not reaching the flat cap brigade, the whole thing will fail to produce reall and tangible support in the population of Hull. Now some may wonder that perhaps I think I can do better, well I don't think I can. Some may think that I think that the group has got it wrong, I don't. When I was stood in the Brickies yesterday and a bloke came round with leaflets, he approached several villa fans starting to explain what was going on, I told him to leave it to me and I stood there for ten minutes talking to them and they said that they supported the anti change view , etc. I now believe that the message is wasted on our own fan base. They could not give a fig about anything that happens, they don't care what the club is called, who owns the club, who the manager is, what formation we adopt or the shirt colours. They only care that the routine that they have is not interrupted. They are not bothered about the bloke sat next to them as long as he does nothing to disrupt their Saturday. If you ask some of them why they stand up when a goal is scored they will say its to see what's going on, not to celebrate. They only want to do the same routine week in week out and nothing must step in the way. This is a group who know what is going on, but would not waste time on reading a leaflet, you could land a hot air ballon on the pitch at half time and they wouldn't look up from poring their tea out. The thing is that they are no worse than any other clubs supporters. So I am sorry but I cannot support trying to get the message out to our fans, they don't care enough. The ones who do have joined in. I'm sorry but I now believe that if the campaign does not evolve it something that captures the imagination of the majority, it will fail. I'm even more sorry to say that I don't think that I can see the answer either. But my biggest regret is that now I can only see that Assen Allam will get on his way and even if I stop buying a season pass, he will not miss me or anyone else who does the same.
Leaflets - which let us not forget cost a great deal in time and money to produce, so any which are discarded is not good for the company/campaign group which has produced them. Patty - personally I take any leaflets which I accept home and if I don't want it I recycle it BUT if I want it for future reference/maybe future historical reference (which surely these leaflets should be treated as - as one of the ways a body of fans kept the tradition of Hull City AFC instead of it being turned into Hull Tigers) to show the children/grandchildren/future fans of the club. But perhaps I'm weird in thinking that way
Could you guys have been more upset if the leafleters had been campaigning for say sharia law rather than something with which you actually agree? Aw they shoved the leaflets into your hand did they?
