^a lot of our corners today were atrocious. Re: Elmo's crossing - he put in a few brilliant crosses today too, they didn't look as good as nobody had gambled on them though. There was one in the second half that was placed right in no-mans land between Villa's back 4 and keeper and skimmed right across the surface. Danny Graham was stood watching and all I could think of is how it reminded me of the gambles Gedo took when sneaking in for his goals with us last season.
Judging by some of the rants on a couple of Villa forums, anyone would think we had been playing Barcelona today. Talk about delusions of grandeur. No your Aston Villa....your (insert word)
Ignoring the annoying Egyptians on Facebook for a moment, but you're right, Gedo is a poacher & I want to see him in the team when he's fit
That's not what the announcer supposedly said. The quote attributed to him was "the worst crosser in the Premier League".
Stating the obvious but we missed Brady today. No creative spark down the left. Thought Huddlestone had another exceptional game.
After taking 3 pts from West ham a point today making it 4 from 2 home games is good. Elmo got into some great positions but crosses were a big let down i thought Livermore and Huddlestone are a great partnership in midfield, Aluko was closed down very quickly, the defence outstanding, overall it was a fair result.
I heard him say it. He didnt say he was the worst in the Premier League, he said "he is the worst crosser I have seen this season in the Premier League." He said it in the middle of the dozen comments about how bad his crosses were. At another point he said that we should stop giving him the ball and then went on about how Elmo was some sort of magnet that we couldnt avoid giving the ball to when he shouldnt be allowed to touch it. He also made a comment about how bad Aluko was at crossing to after Aluko twice didnt beat the first man on a corner kick. Then he said something about how Elmo and Aluko should be given a bag of balls and forced to kick them tell they could put a ball in the 6 yard box. He also made the same comment about one of their players who messed up a throw in. I have to say the announcer was a giant asshole.
Agreed the commentator was crap. I just turned off the sound. The picture coverage was great. Villa came for a point which shows how far we have come this season.
Very happy with our start of the season. Mcgreggor and Davies have impressed me massively too. Today we have a clean sheet and a point which is good. Not too convinced on graham though.
I agree. at the end of the day a point is a point, whether it is 0-0 or 3-3, its the same with a goal, it doesn't matter how good the goal is at the end of the day its still a goal. Before the game I would of been happy with a point and we got the point. A scruffy affair but nerveless a great point against a prominent villa side.
Just looked myself, law of averages says a big club like Villa will have more ****heads than we do. There's a lot of sense but you don't notice that when the crap stick out like a sore thumb. I've seen far worse from other clubs, and you can almost guarentee half the **** scouters are the ignorant don't know **** all types that see the name 'Hull' and genuinely believe their u-18 side should hammer us 5-0 home or away. Like a lot of the villa posts I saw, I think it was a very even game where both teams set up not to concede and defended really well. 1 good chance and a few half chances a piece but neither side took them. I don't think anyone should be unhappy with that point, it was well earned by both sides in a tough fixture for both sides.
This was an odd game in a way. I actually thought both teams displayed a fair amount of skill at times, controlled the ball fairly well and genuinely tried to attack. It was an open game and pretty much "end to end". The thing that made it a bit different for us was that rather than spurned chances, we simply failed (despite some often very good build up play), to create the chances. We clearly missed the creativity of Robbie Brady and despite Graham's work ethic, if he was better at holding the ball he could have assisted in bringing other players in to the game. I'm afraid I'm becoming more of a doubter.
Hull City in 8th place on 11 points will do for me. 6 points above West Ham who are now 3rd bottom on 5 points. Dont expect that to change today either for the Hammers @ Spurs. Hull City just 5ptd off Liverpool and top spot. Not bad, Not bad at all. Long way to go like. Sofa so good.
But also very correct. What do you want him to say, sit there ****ing over how good Villa were, like the Commentators in the City-Everton game?
