    £35 million for Carroll
    £20 million for henderson

    Possibly...

    £15 million for Jones (Blackburn)...

1.) Where the feck is all the money coming from and...
2.) Why are they paying over 2x the odds for players with only potential....

Thats £70 million on 3 players who lets face it are not world class players... YET!

    GG

At least when Chelski and Manc City where splashing the cash they where buying world class proven players....

I didnt include the Torres cash because they also spent £17 million on Suarez. (Who is better than all three of these players)

I dont want to go into past transfers either as there has been a lot of money wasted in the past!

    Look at the figures quoted for other Premiership midfielders;

    £16m for Young
    £13m for Zog

With those in mind, how can anyone with a straight face say Henderson is worth £13m let alone £20m?!

The reasons Sunderland fans are pissed if because their management told them he wouldn't be sold for less than £20m...when time passes they'll get over it, much like we got over Judas leaving

There model is quite like ours but we have a businessman doing the financials. Hes prudent..... but the scousers seem to be paying whatever people quote them...

£20 million for a player who is nowhere near the England team in terms of quality is just astonishing.

Young proved his worth in the 2nd half performance for england and has been consistant for 4 years plus....

The issue I have is its pushing ALL players values up in the premiership.

As my Grandmother (God rest her sozzled soul) would most likely have said:

"£20 million for Henderson! Why ****.* That's just stupid! Children these don't even know they're born"

    * She had a penchant for swearing after a few sherries**

    ** Bottles.

I think its common sense! When the new rules come in, Liverpool will have a core of English players, and not just, a core of potentially the best English players around.

You HAVE to take into consideration the Torres money, it meant that essentially buying Suarez for 22m (that's the fee I heard) and Carroll for 35m cost them a total of 7m.

If you haven't got the financial clout to knock Man City/Chelsea off their perch then the next best thing to do (if you want to compete) is to try and build rather than buy. Chelsea are an aging team, they're going to have to spend a lot of money again buying another generation of top players. By the time this happens, Liverpool's could've potentially come of age!

Liverpool could potentially do what you said JWAG, if they bought better English players!

It just seems Liverpool are desperate to get back to their day's of former glory and are prepared to pay any price for it. Nice work if you can get it. I wonder how much Henry is prepared to put into the kitty in total.

It won't look good for KD if after spending so many millions he doesn't come up with the goods.

    This!!!

They are quite clearly building for the future, 20million is crazy talk but like the above said this could be young english side with massive amount of potential for the future.

price you pay I'm afraid they spend 20m on a young lad who's not an international we pay 5m for a international difference being players in our league are over hyped.

with regards to where we're getting the money from. We still have money from the masch deal & torres and it would suprise me if FSG (our owners) put a small fortune in to our transfer account before the new accounting rules took effect. Our owners have basically said money is not an issue as long as the players are young, marketable or very very good. we have Damian Comolli scouring the globe looking for youngsters (we have just signed a 15 year old from ireland who is supposed to have huge potential) and we signed a youngster from coventry in january. we have a record sponsership deal with StanChart (who have said that they will pay big bucks regardless of europe qualiforcation as their target audiance doesn't watch champions league any way) and we have just signed a record kit supplier deal with Warrior sports (boston based company owned by New Balance)

    as for question 2

We are copying what Barcelona are doing in spain. top young spanish players growing together to create a family within the team. these young stars helped by top quality players and coaches. it will take a while to come good but it will

One amendment with the highlighted statement.

He's scouring Newcastle scout Graham Carr's transfer list ;)

Seems every time we're 'linked' via the press with a player; the next day Liverpool are linked to him as well :emoticon-0112-wonde
