It's the most significant signing yet. I said after the match that Jiminez must have had pound signs in his eyes watching Cousins, but if that is the reason for giving him a contract I don't have a problem with that.

All of the young Academy assets are now on long term contracts. :emoticon-0109-kiss: it looks like there is some method in the madness after all.

It is just a way of asking for more money when they leave, sorry for being so cynical, but after fifty two years of watching our best players being sold it makes you that way. I have been a vociferous critic of the owners but well done to the owners, or RM who are underwriting this.

Jordan Cousins looks a better player in the Championship than he did for the under-21's. I thought he was overshadowed by Diego Poyet in midfield at the end of last season, but the way he has raised his game all of a sudden reminds me of what Ron Greenwood said about Bobby Moore, that he should play at Wembley every week. I don't see why we shouldn't hang on to him for a couple of years, and get a proper price, not just roll over for a few quid. Jiminez's decision to turn down £1m. or whatever for Stephens shows you that.

Agreed - I think the pursuit of Stephens by Villa shows that we're not gonna bite the hands off any clubs that come in for our players (especially our best and brightest youngster)

Am sure going by Prothero's piece in the programme on Tuesday night the club already have their valuation of these players (if they improve then that value goes up) and unless a club offers what we want its a no thank you from us

And what is exactly wrong with making money on a player when they leave?

This board are really doing a fantastic job, ignoring all the pathetic rumours and looking at the simple facts - they have been an absolute revalation.

Did I say that there was anything wrong with making money on a player? What facts have you got Typical to say that the board are doing a fantastic job. Because I have got lots of contrary facts that say that the chuckle brothers are not to be trusted. Are you Jiminez in disguise? What makes you think it is Jiminez and Slater who are funding the new contracts?

I thought that you found making money detestable when I picked up on the word cynical in your thread, it should have course meant comical.

Without wishing to point out the obvious but when the Board took over I could have sworn we were in Divsion one. That is a fact.

We also had an manager that everyone wanted shot off - and they replaced him with a manager quite a few of us now want to get rid off. - numerically speaking they have reduced the number of fans that detest the manager - that is a fact

The board cut off the leaches at this club - that is a fact. They have made jouneymen football a thing of the past by contracting up only the cream at cafc (including those in the office that have their tongues permanently attached to the back trouser pocket of the former Board)

We won our first trophy in ages under this board. This is a fact.

I could go on but I don't think I can be bothered.

Now I have some facts where are yours? ( and no saying a man I know )

I spoke to JC after the game, and I praised him for his excellent progress this season.

A lovely young lad, I must say.

No. Let's give this board the break they deserve then.
