According to the Liverpool Echo Glen Johnson is set to reject a new contract and leave the club on a free in 2015.

If this is true then I'd flog him on next summer.

What say you... Keep him and he goes for nothing or get a few bob for him in the summer?

If this is true than I say sell. We have ready made replacements in Kelly & Wisdom

I agree with sell. But we absolutely cannot count on Kelly or Wisdom as direct replacements for Johnson. Neither offer anywhere near the same attacking prowess that Jonno offers, which is something we've missed drastically since we've been out.

If Johnson goes I would hope the club has more sense than to rely on two centre backs, one of whom is 19 years old and the other who is perpetually injured for eternity.

Could offer him a new contract....

Tell you the best R/B W/B in the league atm - Seamus Coleman. Can't understand why Moyes didn't go back for HIM, as opposed to Fellatio, as R/B at United isn't exactly nailed on. Offer them Reina as a swap?

Dissagree with the Kelly and Wisdom bit.

It would be hard to get better than Johnson and Johnson will be hitting 30 soon so would he find another big club?

    Crap paper talk.

Edit: in summer 2015 he will turn 31.

Can't see him having a big move at his age. I suspect he will sign a new deal, if not we might as well keep him to the end of his contract as we would get buttons for him at his age. It would give us time to sign a decent youngster if we do not want to go with Kelly or Wisdom.

I know Kelly is no great shakes going forward but he is solid defending, a bit like Arbeloa used to be and he has done alright since he left us.

I know he is a left back but I thought Luke Shaw was impressive when we played Southampton and would not be upset if we signed him.

  7. I reckon Arsenal would take him, other than that it would be abroad IMO.

Kelly and Wisdom are both center backs imo I hope Mclaughlin can step up and replace Johnson eventually. Johnson is worth a few quid and I'd sell if he's not going to sign an extension.

If he's on a free... arsenal may offer nothing + £1.

No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no and no.

Neither of them are RB's and although decent defensively, neither of them are good enough going forward to play as a modern day full back. Look at the best full backs in the World these days and they're all as good going forward as they are going back. With teams not playing 442 with proper wingers anymore, the width comes from your full backs and if they don't get forward and provide that width then it becomes easy to defend against.

We've done well from Chelsea out casts so far.

    Apart from Joe Cole...

I disagree. Keep Johnson and have a gentle transition for McGlaughlin.

He has always been decent in the Chelsea games that I've watched. Always looked lively and likes to get forward wherever possible. Would be a fairly like-for-like replacement. In all honesty though, I think Jonno will finish his career at Liverpool. At 31, he is unlikely to get many big clubs wanting him. Even if it is on a free.

    This (btw it's McLaughlin)

I wouldn't want us to splash out on a new foreign attacking right back when we have a ready made youthful replacement who looks perfectly suited to the role. I know I earlier agreed with selling him, but now I think if we were to keep him another 2 years while McLaughlin develops then everyone's a winner.

Think he has to because no club will want to pay a fee for him + his high wages when he leaves due to his age.

McLaughlin could be the answer... would like to see Danilo or similar.

Can't say I'm surprised really and I'm not fussed - higher earner at the club and for little contribution.

We should definitely be looking at selling him next summer and bringing in a replacement. Cannot rely on Wisdom and Kelly as they're not natural RWB. McLaughlin is a great shout for the future.

If he gives little contribution why is the right flank looking weak with out him?
