I have a friend who works for Opta - they've just taken on a contract with the BBC Website and he promised me he would sack one of the Harriotts. I just checked and I think he has! Shouldn't we have got a development fee though?

Posting on the train back. First half we were poor, although not as bad as Millwall. Wilson run ragged by Cohen. Hamer at fault for their goal. We looked a different side at the start of the second half. Incredible mega scramble in their box including Cousins hitting the post.

Cousins outstanding and MOM. Our support wad fantastic tonight, sung all the way through.

Did you sing all the songs Vol? Chrissy Powell's red army...? Chrissy Powell, Chrissy Powell Chrissy Powell?
Are you prepared to give him until Saturday? Do you think his team talk or tactics might have had an effect?
Were we poor first half or just losing?
    And other similar questions.
Not prepared to fall out over the answers just now, too content with the performance and the result.

Restored my faith a little tonight. Feared the worst after ten minutes. Generally poor first half. Forest flattered to deceive although Reid was brilliant. Transformation after half time. Great stuff from the crowd. Even the west stand was noisy. Great game of football to watch. Stephens, Cousins, Wood our standouts and a special mention for Wilson who I have been very hard on of late but was excellent tonight especially as he was left exposed for long periods (see comment on Harriott). Less good were Hamer who needs a rest, Gower who was painfully slow and Harriott who ran about like a headless chicken (I don't expect many to agree with that). Church has enormous energy and tried so hard but I am beginning to suspect that his effort is generally to little effect. Sod All scored but is crap. Sorry. Good cameo from Hughesy. Not convinced by Piggott. Full marks to the crowd. Down in numbers but up on noise. All in all a good night and there is some hope there. CP gave one too many waves at the end. Makes me think that he may believe he is on borrowed time. Hope not.

Stephens had a good game, something you can't say too often, and Cousins has earned himself a run as def-mid. The diamond seemed to work, and I can see real promise in it. with Jacko playing up top, Solly RB, Wilson wide right, Kermit up front with Pigott, real grounds for optimism. Pigott doesn't always look the part, but watch his positional play. He'll score a lot of goals for somebody, and I hope it's us. I was dreading tonight TBH, but well done everybody, including the manager who set them up. Oh, and the fans too.

Agree with the Harriot impersonating a headless chicken comment,Also Church needs to be a squad member at best[due to lack of ability not effort].Sordell is very lazy but just might be ok if alongside Yann.Gower may be slow but is a good measured footballer with a touch of class about him.

Very good free kick by Reid BUT... wasn't Harmer to blame? How could you misjudge a ball like that?

I was sitting right behind Hamer , and he was fuming with himself after he let that one in. For once, he couldn't blame Morrison or Wiggins. Really poor footwork.

Strangely enough, I couldn't remember the words to that song, although I did join in with "When We Were Young".

Lets not pop the champagne corks just yet. The second half was more like the performance the players should have given v Millwall. We still languish in 20th place with a paltry 6 points. Players like Stephens need to turn in the same performance on Saturday v Blackpool. Can they ?

Last night also proved the point, hopefully once and for all, that we are a better passing side without that non League clod hopper Pritchard clogging things up. Cousins is different class, and proves you can pass and take a touch as well as run....

Very good goal by Wilson bouncing the ball off of the statuesque Sordell into the back of the net. I think Wilson had worked out that Sodall's movement was extremely limited (probably down to all the "power shakes" he is consuming instead of fitness training) and that a deflection was a genuine possibility.

It would be interesting to see the stats on distance covered particularly comparing the distance covered by the front two and each of Wiggins and Wilson. Wilson earned his corn last night and certainly delivered. Gower appeared slow to position himself and I was very relieved by the substitution by Hughes. Church and Piggott both put in good displays but they couldn't achieve very much with a strike partner of limited movement (Church, after he was first injured, had more movement on the pitch than Sordell). Had Kermo been on the pitch we could have taken advantage of the possession we had in the second half. Wood provided sound cover but I was always relieved to see Morro in the right position. Wiggins showed his limitation playing wingback but had improved on the Millwall game, I personally would have liked to see The recently singular Harriott had a difficult game but the outstanding player was without a doubt Jordan Cousins who looked definitely as if he owned the role. Pritchard (and I am not one of his detractors) will find it difficult to regain his place if JC plays that well.

Better but not yet a cigar.
