I find it laughable that there is an element to this board who are whining like little school girls because we are not playing like Barcelona and winning by at least a 4 goal margin every weekend.

I find it even more laughable that people criticise SOD for being boring and showing no interest. Such a pathetic criticism in my book. Personality has nothing to do with whether or not you make a good manager. There have been many a 'boring' manager who have achieved great things in the game likewise there have been greatly extroverted managers who have been spectacularly crap.

Just to make it clear, I don't love SOD and think he's the next messiah but nor do I hate him and think he's taking us under. I am a supporter who can see that for the first time in years we have a manager with a vision and direction. I'm not willing to give up on this due to some below par results and disappointing performances.

The team are in a phase of transition and it's much like taking over a failing school. The club has been on a downward spiral since 09-10 after our failure to build on the play-off defeat and a half decent second season in the Championship. Unfortunately 4 years of systemic failure won't be repaired overnight. In fact it could take a couple of seasons of finishing in the bottom half of L1 until we start to show signs of improvement. Failure is so ingrained within the club from board level to the playing staff it's stifling our recovery. SOD is changing our approach not just a little bit but completely. He's trying to produce a team of footballers, something we all want. He's not producing a team of kick and rush which is what we have been subjected to since the final days of Johnsons tenure. We are recruiting players with potential i.e. not the finished article. Guess what they will make mistakes more often than not but they have raw ability to become top championship, potentially premiership players.

This means our transition will be slow and I don't see how bringing in a new manager will resolve any of this. Remember it's taken Swansea the best part of 10 years to get where they are. We are following a similar philosophy albeit starting at a higher level than L2 relegation fodder which is where the Swans were.

It's time to be realistic guys and support the team because I think it will be a tough few years and I fully expected it from the outset. Chopping and changing managers every 5 minutes will not get us to where we want to be any quicker.

    wiz.....17points
    Hawk..19points
    Tom....18points
    raver...30points
    ROD....30points
    smh.....14points
    OTIB....21points
    Supa....21points
    shiny....20points
    Redprnt.11points from 9..
    angelic..16points from 9..

Matt - I see you didn't predict anything.
Like sitting on a fence ?
Or are you into hindsight ?
Or do you believe your crystal ball.

'I find it laughable that there is an element to this board who are whining like little school girls because we are not playing like Barcelona and winning by at least a 4 goal margin every weekend' - Stupid OTT statement. You sound like the little girl.

'He's not producing a team of kick and rush' - Hilarious. Colchester 2nd half or were you crystal ball gazing.

'potentially premiership players' - like Fielding, Flint, Wynter, Wagstaffe and O'Connor. Are you for real ?

Say what you see - we're not Barcelona or even Leyton Orient.
    We're in SOD's sh*t.

Well i didn't predict how many points we would have after the first 10 games, maybe i didn't want a red face like some of our predictors, but in reality, i would have had a red face, because by christ i thought we would have had a few more points than we have, with the players at his disposal, i think SoD should be doing a whole lot better, i don't think for one minute we should be in the top six, but 5pts dire.

Standard Redprintt response. Someone doesn't agree with your opinion on football and of course you are always correct. I'm surprised City haven't snapped you up as a consultant!

I didn't make a prediction because I hardly ever come on here because all people ever seem to do on here these days is moan, moan, moan. By all means moan but it's a public forum. I don't want to read it therefore I don't. I have a guts full of moaning on a Saturday afternoon in the Ateyo to last me a lifetime. You would honestly think the world is about to come to an end the way they go on and on and on for 90 minutes.

In reference to players I was more talking about the likes of Reid, Bryan and Williams as opposed to the ones you listed.

Do you think it's easy to change the way you play overnight and break bad habits? Its like a golfer rebuilding his swing. It takes time.

I have my opinion, you have yours. Time will tell who's correct.

I did not expect us to finish in top six. But neither did I expect us to be in bottom four after almost 20% of the season and without a win.
This is not good enough and it must change very soon, otherwise SO"D will have lost all lingering respect from City fans. Those near me in Atyeo are not happy bunnies.

    .

    Ditto -

The people that predicted 30 points from the first 10 games were frankly deluded. I set a modest expectation of 16 points and the team have failed miserably to get 1/3rd of what I expected.

Fed up with excuses and buzzwords, very poor results, and with the SOD apologists.

I predicted 30 points because I took the game as having a laugh. I would never predict anything but a City win. I doubt that we will score on Saturday but I predicted 4 -0 in the guess the score game. Why because no one else has so if by chance it happens I'm flying up that league.

But when asked where I think we will be end of the season I treated that one with my head and said outside the play offs to mid table, and still think that will happen.

I always said this season is going to be a roller coaster and hard for us fans. When asked why I thought this it's simple really. We was a Championship club but the players we are playing with was not a Championship team. They came from all different leagues thrown together and need to gel.

We got of to possibly the worse start going and that's because we tried out a few of the ex players at this level to find they were the same as the higher level, Not that good. And it's taken it's time to correct itself with the youngsters trying to grow confidence to repair the errors of the older more professionals.

IMO we are only missing one ingredient to destroying a team in this league and that's movement. If the players learnt to move to create space up front or higher in the midfield the players further back can pass to them. At the moment they are rigid and offer no outlets so the defenders pass amongst themselves allowing the opposition to fall into position.

I've also stated JET should not have a free role it takes a player out of the team, if he wants that role then he works for it and becomes more of a team player.

Liam Kelly threw a massive spanner in the works, I think losing him has affected the team balance more than we think as I believe SoD wanted him to be the centre piece of his jigsaw.

Do I like SoD no because the only thing I hear is drivel and find him boring but then I only see that side of him so to the players they could see a humorous fun loving guy. Do I think he's the best manager at the moment for City yes, because he will get us playing nice football and will get us back within budget.

He's the manager of the club I love so he gets my full support until he's left or removed then the next manager gets the same.

I bet people complain about what I said about JET than anything else on this comment <laugh>

I seem to remember there being a few laughs on this site when the Gas went down and their fans were predicting they would be the "Barcelona" of the lower leagues, aren't we in danger of becoming very similar with our expectations, (God forbid) We are a smallish club in a lower league and we are rebuilding, I agree with Red and Matt it will take time. I for one was glad to see the fans in the Atyeo applauding the team off the pitch last week, let's get behind them.

'We are recruiting players with potential'
'I was more talking about the likes of Reid, Bryan and Williams as opposed to the ones you listed'

Reid and Bryan came through the Academy so SOD can't claim any credit in 'recruiting' them.

In fact the bloody clown picked f*****g Kilkenny ahead of Reid in August.

So, out of the 6 SOD 'recruited' you think Williams has Prem potential.
Jury is out for me on Williams but Villa have had their say !

'Fielding, Flint, Wynter, Wagstaffe and O'Connor' - you need serious help if you think these 5 'recruits' will play Prem.

Disagree with that to a degree. I'd put it as we are the 3rd biggest team in this crappy division behind Wolves and Sheff United and we still can't buy a win after nine league games at this level and as many in the Championship before relegation.

From the end of last season, to the way things are going this year (backwards, ever backwards), it's all going to take a hell of a lot longer to turn this around than any of us can possibly have predicted. I can easily see another decade of this rubbish, just like last time we were here.

i was a little shot down pre-season when i voiced my worries about so many new players and so many youngsters, without too many experienced players on the pitch to help them. I think and i am not proud to say, i may of been right, and i said we'd finish 14th, thats looking a stretch at the mo, but i think we still be around that position come the end.

There are still enough seasoned and older pro's at the club to help the kids along, it shouldn't be an issue

    Harewood
    Baldock
    Carey
    Shorey
    Marv
    O'Connor

    etc

I said we would go up and will be top two-egg on my face but hey ho.

Still think SoD will sort out the mess at BS3.
