From the City Facebook page... Early warning that the Walton Street car park, along with the Carnegie and Sports Arena car parks, will NOT be open for Saturday's game against Aston Villa - this is due to the arrival of a bunch of pikeys*. The Park & Ride from Priory Park or city centre parking are a couple of alternatives, but please allow extra time as these are likely to be busier than usual. *amended for comedic effect.
****ing fantastic ill be coming up on Friday and staying til Sunday for the much fabled Hull fair. What an excellent event and a great way to draw cash into the city's coffers.
How does Hull Fair affect this game ffs ? It dont start until friday week anyways. More great planning by the powers that be for those who shall be affected by it.
You're right, I can't see why it would take several days to install a 100 foot ride, they should be able to assemble it in an hour or so. Slackers.
Hull Fair is like the big supermarkets: the money comes out of your pockets and goes out of town.....i.e. - it doesn't get spread around/spent in Hull.
Can''t remember the numbers (they'll be around in the annual financial report somewhere) but the ground rents from the fair brings in a fair old wedge to the council so certainly some of the money stays in the city.
Has OLM put in his order early by chance then ? Not quite. Walton Club does very well out of it at the bar each day from the owners for starters. Not to mention the ground rent.
Don't see why they can't start arriving after the car parks is cleared following the game. Let's face it they are used to pitching camp unnoticed during the hours of darkness.
I went past last night and quite a few of them are there already, I believe some of the rides take over a week to get ready.
I miss Hull fair. The day after we'd be rolling each other around in the oil drums they left behind. Durign the fair week we'd be at Coney Island every day (we lived 5 minutes away) and just enjoying the atmosphere. The double dive bombers were great but the stalls past COney Island (towards Anlaby Road were a bit tedious). Bob Carver's chips - love 'em.
Hull Fair seems ****e now. It does show how bloody quick this year has gone though - it only feels like a week has gone by since McShane slotted home against Cardiff... ...well, it feels like a week to me anyways.
