DELIGHTED David Beckham proudly watched as his son played a real blinder on his Queen’s Park Rangers debut.

Brooklyn took to the pitch with the Hoops in his first game yesterday.

Dad David, 38, was all smiles on the sidelines, cheering on the young starlet.

Plucky winger Brooklyn played with the London club’s under-14s academy side after months of speculation.

Dressed-down David joined ex-Chelsea player Dennis Wise, 46, who was there to see son Henry, 13, play in the same team.

James Caley tweeted: “Just refereed Charlton V QPR with David Beckham and Dennis Wise watching and Brooklyn playing #casualsundaymorning.”

While Brooklyn did not score, Caley confirmed he put on a promising display, saying: “Played on right wing. Looks like he has potential, more of a Spanish style to him atm.”

The youngster’s efforts were not enough to stop his side losing to Charlton 2-0.

But disappointed dad David was happy enough to pose for snaps with dozens of excited mums, dads and players.

Farah Miri tweeted: “Just met David Beckham whilst my son plays against his son’s team!

“Fab game and we won sorry!”

Wayne Stephens added: “Quite possibly the best day ever!

“Met David Beckham & my Chelsea Legend Dennis Wise. #chuffed.”

Sounds nothing like a 'blinder' - more like headline bait to get page views for the advertising revenue.

Personally think this could be a good move. Even if the boy ain't much kop it don't cost anything, the Beckham link always brings a good vibe, the mans an Icon and can only bring a positiveness to the club. Also with the asian market the name alone will attract interest , shirt sales etc. Very clever rangers.

Not even tainted by the presence of Dennis Wise.

Beckham and Wise, sounds like a new comedy act!

Lets hope he keeps developing and we retain him to senior level.

Denis Wise and his family were QPR fans..
his old man used to run a pub in Notting Dale and my uncle was his potman..
when he was playing for the scum my uncle showed me Wise's old room and it was kitted out with R's scarves and posters

From a marketing perspective this might be a good move, but from a playing perspective (particularly the juniors) it might just be more of a media circus detracting these lads attention and concentration from the actual game - not sure if I was one of the team playing alongside Beckham junior I would be too happy about all the attention lavished on one (equal) member of the squad. At that age we should be trying to keep their heads level and not playing the media game that the seniors seem to be cursed with.

So a father shouldn't go and watch his son play football? Or shouldnt any son of a famous sports person ever follow in their parents footsteps just incase someone reports on it? FFS........
