It's interesting that Moyes is coming out with what people have been saying for years, that united haven't got enough top players to win anything. Fergie instilled such belief in his players, he made them believe if they played as a team they could win anything, and you could say he made them overachieve. The problem is now Moyes is sowing the seed of doubt within the team, maybe they are not good enough? Other teams will also start to think maybe Utd are no longer invicible and start to go after them. Fergie, was one of the best tacticians both on and of the pitch and I think Utd will find out this season that he was worth far more than 10 points. As for Moyes he needs to adjust and do it quickly, he is now manager of one of the biggest clubs in the world and that step up can be hard to make maybe it would have been better to keep fergies backroom staff to make that transition easier. He needs to reinstall that winning mentality within utd and churn out some results otherwise he might be gone by Christmas.
it's a good point timmy, where is the cut off point for Moyes? out of top 5 by Xmas? will they stick? will he a get a full season no matter where they come? IMO if they are 6/9pts off 5th by Xmas then it's curtains for him.
You're right, his comments about the CL are nothing short of laughable. He's trying to dumb down the expectations of the biggest club in the country ffs! Plus, given that a fair number of the current squad were part of the CL winning side of 2008, is he saying that they're no longer good enough? That'll do wonders for morale........ He's floundering like a fish on the quayside, it's becoming uncomfortable to watch already.....
We all now Man Utd bring in huge amounts of money but at the same tme they have huge debt - how badly could they be affected if they spent 2 years out of the Champions League?
Summer transfer failings! This is Fergie's team, he knew the strengths and weaknesses Moyes does not. No point in Moyes getting to know this lot. Age and being ****e will see most of the current squad out the door before long. United was like an old car you needed to be familiar with to keep it running, Fergie's old car, he knew it inside out, poor Moyes has had to call the AAA after 5 miles of driving. I expect United to not sack Moyes regardless of where he finishes and also expect United to spend big next summer and bring in quite a few players.
