Football Focus mentioned that 6 of our players are living in the same hotel. That doesn't sound ideal in terms of preparation. (Alan Partridge Travel Tavern springs to mind) Surely property is not that hard to come by in the surrounding villages?
We've put players up in The Village for years. Not sure why they're still there after a couple of months, we have a deal at Anlaby House and you'd expect them to be there by now. Davies moved into a rented house a month ago, I can't really understand why the others haven't.
I thought we used to put them up at Anlaby House until they found their own place. Pretty nice for Hull. Anlaby House Estate
Pretty certain most of those are at Hallmark Hotel. As we have 3 players on loan (Graham, Livermore and Gedo) and 2 only on 1-year deals (Faye, Harper) I imagine those are 5 of the 6.
If the club are paying for them to stay there why not ? The UK based players will already have homes elsewhere & their families are probably still living there. Let me see, room service, laundry service, daily cleaning, beds made for you,no heating, lighting, sky bills etc & living rent free, why would they want to move out of the hotel ?
Strange. He says here that he doesn't go out, and doesn't drink. http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/hulls-abdoulaye-faye-enjoys-sam-2320082?
I'd be surprised if we still have any deal with Anlaby House now the Allems are in charge. The house the club used to rent for the manager(4 lived there at some point plus 1 assistant) went pretty much as soon as the Allems took over. I don't think anyone from the club has lived on the Anlaby House complex since the days of Duffen.
I hope they have improved the Hallmark Hotel? Last time I went it was a complete **** hole, not suitable for a PL footballer.
It used to be a khazi but got took over and totally re vamped about 18 months ago I'd guess. Unless you have extremely high standards and want to compare it to The Ritz you'd say it was very decent these days. I went to a wedding in January and saw Faye in there just prior to the Sheffield Wed game so he's been there quite a while, you'd therefore think that he must find it acceptable.
It won some sort of Excellence in Yorkshire award not long ago. Brady, Chester and Evans were the last mob I know that stayed at Anlaby House.
Hull doesn't have many areas suitable for young footballers, it's either the marina for an apartment or the West Hull villages for a family house, not a lot of choice. On the plus side the rent is pretty cheap, £1500 a month for that four bed house is really good value.
It was not long after Hallmark took over, it was utterly gash. It may have been prior to the makeover, but in my opinion it was about £3m short of being decent. Looked like it hadn't had a penny spent on it since it was a Forte Post House. Everything was ****ed, broken or frayed.
