.... who would you realistically look to buy in January (cutting through the JFK school of economics BS)... and assuming no outgoings?

I honestly think we could get Will Hughes for £6m and offer a player +Cash deal for Rhodes (Obertan or Willo or Shola + £6m or maybe a loan mix). This will help clear some deadwood and also lighten the wages.
I also think we could go back in for Gomis and offer a straight £3m (if Sissoko was £2m in Jan then Gomis, with 4-5 months on his contract should be £3m). We could even offer Amalfitano etc...

I'd be more inclined to have a look around and see who isn't getting a game at a big club with the World Cup looming. Loans or blowing the full wad on one player would be a decent idea in my opinion. Can you imagine if we got Hernandez or someone in January?

    But I dream...

I would just like some domestic players brought in.
Happily take a chance on those already mentioned.

Also seriously look at the loan market, like other clubs do.

No doubt, we'll end up with more cheap foreign imports, that will take time to settle in ready for next season.

Loans without an option to buy (so all those top top players who could became immense) are unlikely as it doesn't fit our business model to put other teams players in the shop window. To be fair we would be complaining if we relied on loans every year.

We need a striker and a winger (at the very least) so Gomis in a cut price deal would be great - though didn't we fall out over wages? Trying to sign up Remy if we could would then make me happy. Small steps to making the team a touch stronger but no matter how our team looks on paper (and in a biased manner I do think our team should be top half) it needs to actually perform...

He said he spoke to Pardew who offered a deal of say 30k a week, we then agreed a fee with Lyon (?) maybe £2m higher than we wanted to pay so we went back to Gomis and said drop your wages and it's a go.

I think there's a chance we offered 30k a week, then £8m to Lyon and it was a go until "agents" came in and demanded their cut, so we told Gomis you want the move you pay your agents.

I'd blow the whole lot on a striker. Controversial but I'd like Steven Fletcher...good striker, strong in the air, can bring others in to play and very clinical in front of goal.

I don't see what that has to do with who was in net, like. And, FWIW, Hildebrand played in their end-of-season run, which was arguably their best form anyway.

    I don't think he's very good.

Germany don't produce many bad keepers. Jason Steele is another option, North East lad too.

Which is dumb, considering since when do football transfer go through, without agents fees and agents getting their cut of the deal?
