I notice in his criticism of the ref not awarding a penalty yesterday, he failed to mention that Nolan could and probably should have been sent off?
No - he was also pretty quiet on how wobbly on their legs West Ham were when they were pushing for a goal in the last 20 minutes. Seemed as if whenever one of our lads attempted a defensive tackle, they were on the floor. But they didn't lead to a goal - so I assume that's all right for Allardyce.
In all fairness our penalty might not have been given on another day, Livermore did look like he handballed for a penalty for them. However Nolan should have gone very early on for the flying, two footed, off the floor tackle. If a team can't score then they have only themselves to blame. The result was 1-0 to us. Great result. Stop blaming the ref for your own team's ineptness in front of goal! Is that 4 games away from home that they haven't scored in?
Let's be honest, 2 penalty decisions in that game went our way, both of which were wrong, the Nolan tackle aside if they'd gone against us we'd all be incredulous and it's all we'd be talking about. Still, after the last few years where we seem to have struggled to get decisions in our favour it is f**king sweet to get them going our way
Both Nolan and Noble are dirty twats and yes City's defence refused to get suckered into any sort of tackle in the penalty box . Never could stand Allardyce - I don't think Wet Spam supporters much like the long ball Northern moaning got - I believe his nickname with them is the Toad.
Is Nolan the new Lee Bowyer? Kicks anything above the grass and continually whinging in the refs ear.
Can't agree with a couple of your points. Our penalty was soft. That doesn't make it wrong. I've seen worse calls given. I would not put it in the same league as Zaha at Palace late last season. The other thing is, if one of our players went in studs up, ankle high and late on one of theirs, I would be fine with a red, because it was deserved. Sagbo went three weeks ago for the simulation of a headbutt, and rightly so. Harsh, but fair. Nolan should have walked for the challenge.
Brady is pushed in the area, that's a foul and a penalty. The fact he goes down easily, isn't the point. Were in the premier league, you feel contact in the area, you go down. If one of our players had done the same,on a West ham player, and he stayed on his feet, then Allardyce would have told his player he should have gone down. How on earth does Allardyce manage to be uglier than Steve Bruce ?
The font of all knowledge that is E2 summed up the cockneys and their dodgy manager 'You're **** and you blame the ref"
He's a bloody liar! He's the opposite of Steve Bruce who is painfully honest! When he goes on about simulation, he conveniently forgets when he was at Blackburn when he coached El Hadj Diuf to stand in front of the opposing teams goalkeeper at corners and try to obstruct him because the ref would eventually miss one and they would get away with one. Yesterday, it was Nolan who backed into Mags at every corner, although Figgy scupper end the tactic by standing between the two and creating space for the goalkeeper. Allardyce's team are failing. He will do anything to deflect attention from his own failure.
Heard there was some trouble on Prinnny Avenue last night involving West Ham lads - anyone know about this?
Allardyce is a twat. Never forgiven him for breaking George Lyalls leg back in the 70's. ****ing thug just like Nolan.
Brady's penalty was soft. He felt contact and went down, albeit a bit theatrically. A generation has grown up now watching only Premier League football and for them it's the norm and part of the game. Livermore got away with one, so did Nolan and, pre Hawkeye, we might of seen the Tomkins header given. On another day it will go against us, so take the luck when it comes your way. How many times have we bemoaned the fact that we weren't cute enough against some of the bigger teams and played too fair and come away with the wrong end of the decision and result? I feel like I'm condoning cheating, but in truth, I hate it and it's one of the biggest turn-offs in the modern game. Until it is eradicated or becomes more punishable, then it will just be another tactic. Win by any means? I would like to think we won't resort to that and Bruce does avow a sense of fairness whilst acknowledging that 'things happen'.
Aye good post. I was right in line with Brady and i called pen straight away. The tv angles dont seem to do it justice. He definitely barged into him , the ref called it right. But it seems you have to throw yourself to the floor to get a decision to make the refs mind up. W Ham were throwing to the floor for freekicks constantly. That one Vaz Te did after nutmegging Livermore was pathetic.
From where we were it looked a definite penalty with a two handed push on Brady as he was about to jump for the ball. It was consistent with a lot of the pushing, holding and shirt pulling that seems to go on in the box all match without being punished BUT it is foul play and refs shouldn't be turning a blind eye to it. I don't like to see players going down so easily but it really does seem to be the norm in both the Championship and the Premier League and we've been on the wrong end of many similar decisions without whinging. Overall City fully deserved the win - they hit the woodwork three times, Jussi played his usual blinder and made at least three top quality saves and I'm not convinced that Aluko was actually offside when he "scored" in the first half. In contrast I remember only one really good save by Mags from a well struck shot in the second half.
From E2 it looked a definite penalty. He was shoved out of the way in the penalty area.Whether he stays on his feet or goes to ground it was a penalty. It was a stupid shove for the West Ham player to do. Alardice must have watched it on his dodgy lap top. Hope BIG Sam is big enough to review it and PUBLICALLY apologise. I would have thought Sam would have enough spare cash to buy a new computer if rumours are to be believed.
