100% behind Obi and CTWD. I enjoyed giving out flyers badges and info.. It's amazed me how little information even my mates know about the financials of the ownership. Both pass holders since BP and one a successful self employed businessman All shocked when I mentionedthe club pay interest on the loan. Quite normal business but thats it... a businessman doing business! Allams saved the club, invested and has brought us to where are today but that does not make every decision right!
Ok, actually that's the FIRST post I've seen that actually makes sense Obi, and actually made me think about from a different perspective. I'll admit my natural inclination is to go with "if OLM says something, check where he's copy and pasted it from, or just assume he's making stuff up". There's a few others on this fabulous forum who are the same as him, never wrong, dismissive of anyone elses opinions, snide, outrightly aggressive, which just gets my back up, along with a lot of others. Your post though actually makes a lot of sense, and I may just have to shift my arse back onto the fence though rather than being an out and out anti anti. Deffo lots of food for thought there. You should give some thought to using that post in any media discussions tbh. So, well done for that and thanks.
Thank you for listening. Its all I really ask. For me it is always about us, the community of City fans. Assem Allam has given us so much in such a short period of time, I just don't understand why he wants to take our identity.
I do not have a problem with the potential massive disaster of the world laughing at me.I have to say I have never laughed at a Bournemouth fan cos their name was changed.Add to that list many others-some far more successful than us. I call the KC the KC where as some call it the Circle. My dad is very elderly and no longer gets to the match. When we talk we talk about City.If we change the name we will still talk about City. IMO this is being blown out of perspective. The fact that away fans tease us is nothing new and will soon die down unless they realise we are still throwing a hissy fit. When you start laughing at yourself you are starting to grow up and losing your ego centric immaturity. IF AA is wrong we CAN change the name back in future. If I am offered a leaflet next week I will not tell the anoraker to stuff it up his arris.I suppose in the world of OLM that will make me a jihadist for his cause. FFS WE are where we are now cos of AA.Someone else commented about biting the hend....... Maybe the hand may stop feeding. It is reassuring to know that OLM and Agro must have a master plan in place to propel us to greater things I for one want to play the likes of Man Utd every Boxing Day if we can and I am grateful to our saviour for making this a reality this year even if it never happens again
I told you that Assem intended changing our name to Hull Tigers and you laughed it off. I didn't copy and paste it from anywhere, it came directly from Assem. You did the same with information that came directly from Barmby. I'm no oracle, but at some point you will realise that I do post genuine information that warrants further attention. I accept that I might not present things in the best possible way, my passion often gets the better of me, but I always want what's best for the club. Some on here have posted an explanation for their position, notably FLG and I accept their position completely, others just post snide remarks, which I don't react well to.
Cos I support City and have for 48 years -including when very few of us . If you want to know how good it will be to be watching Man Utd on Boxing Day you should have been in the Open End at Barnsley in the wind and rain along with the other 200 lost souls watching us play sh*te.That is correct-a local derby. Not quite the Tiger Nation spoken of today. When our Goalie ran out -having put on vast amounts of weight the Barnsley fans sang in unison "SUMO! SUMO!-and it was funny.IT is ok to laugh at yourself. So I hope that answers your question Kempton.I would also like to see Barcelona at the KC.Does that mean I should go and live in Spain? Do you really need to follow these tactics if someone genuinely does not agree with a particular point of view?!
So which premier league teams have changed their names in the last 50 years? The name of the ground is a bit different from the name of the team don't you think? You're entitled to your view just as I'm entitled to mine. I've explained the reasons why I oppose the name change. I'm not talking about away fans but those billions of people who watch premier league football all around the world and think we are morons for singing songs about Hull City when we are Hull Tigers. They won't be laughing they'll just think we are mad or worse pity us. If the hand stops feeding us Assem Allam will have a championship club that owes him £66 million. As an astute businessman he knows the only way he can get his family's fortune back is for Hull City to become an established premier league team. Having reached the promised land he's not going to write off £66 million because we don't like his new name for us. Likewise if we are Hull City AFC next season he's not going to walk away. As he's says he's a businessman not a football fan. 10 years of premiership money against chucking £66 million away because we don't like Hull Tigers. For a businessman there's only one answer. Of course you are perfectly free to think otherwise.
I opposed Fish/Dolan/Needler back in the 90s. I didn't have a master plan then either. But my master plan if I had one would be: DON'T CHANGE THE ****ING NAME JUST BECAUSE YOU THINK IT WILL UPSET GERAGHTY/BRADY. It upsets your core customers far more.
ive stopped buying anything from the shop or the concourse -i don't suppose for one minute it will be noticed but thats someting like £200 per season either staying in my pocket or going to the local shops and pubs - as he treats me with contempt i will treat him the same - its a business matter, the fans dont matter to him and he means **** all to me also -as far as i'm concerned even if he left the name unchanged he cannot undo all the **** that he has said
You seriously think billions of people have or will have an opinion about our club?I hope you are right .We are a little team in the eyes of the world and always will be.The Phil Brown moments and us winning at Arsenal are the only things virtually anyone knows about us abroad. When I lived abroad I took the pish out of other peoples teams and they did out of mine -Ull and Engerland.I got drenched in booze when their team beat England. It was good fun.Whether you like it or not this really is not very important in the general scheme of things. No one is being killed or tortured. This is not anywhere near the gravity of the Udders/abuse of police powers issue.
And that's why we'll never break the Asian markets. Which is the Allam's aims if you believe his interviews with Calendar, the HDM and Look North. Nothing will come of a name change except contempt and derision. And when the locals become disillusioned in greater numbers, Assem and Ehab will have lost the fans who really care.
Granted that no one has changed their name in the PL before but just because it hasn't happened does not mean it can't happen in the future. As for the songs being sung which Obdiah (sorry if I have mis-spelt your name - it is just I have a bad record with that and it is not meant to disrespect you) points out - aren't we already taken the mickey out of us for the "Mauled by the tigers" chant (which I appreciate gives ammo to the supporters of the Hull City AFC name). And in future the songs would surely be adapted to suit the new name, as with new players. This may make me sound as "mad" as Papa - but if I had his money and owned the club it is something I would have already done.
Quite a post that, which goes to show the depth of feeling some have about this. I took a leaflet yesterday, I still have it in fact, because I respect the efforts of people to fight for the things that are important to them and won't belittle them. It's just a massive shame that with the club in such good shape, we have to have these distractions off-field, fuelling resentment to the owner. Ultimately, I do not think Allam is the enemy or doing this to damage the club, it's just that he's got a bee in his bonnet about this and he won't be for turning. Madness really, as I can see no discernible benefit that wouldn't be achieved by keeping the name unchanged. I remain ambivalent, but wish the anti-crowd well with their campaign. Keep it sensible and reasoned and you'll have more onside than the pro's who, if this board is representative, cannot really come up with a reason to back Hull Tigers as the future of the club. Our past should be used as our foundation for the future.
