I think if we can sort out our away form we have a chance, but let's not forget a couple of seasons ago we were at the very top until October. Still early days but we are actually building a squad and have an exceptional goalscorer at last so if you ask me it's next season we can be a threat for promotion.
To go out there and out football a football team is very encouraging and proves that we can play and win against the so called better sides in this division. We restricted them to just bits and pieces throughout the game and we thoroughly deserved the win today, hell even Mick Mills was pleased. Welcome to the FORTRESS PORTMAN ROAD
A great win playing some terrific football and McG in the first half was different class. On a more downbeat note, if McG doesnt score who will? Is SEB coming to PR or not? we desperately need a strike partner for McG.
Hard to make any complaints about the performance today, we were great. But that is a point, McGoldrick tends to score very good goals which he has made from his own good work but I doubt (although I hope I'm proved wrong) he can continue to score goals like that on a regular basis, only the Ronaldos and Messi's of this world can do that. What I'd like to see is a bit more dynamism from our midfield in creating more chances but I'd also like to see a partner for McG who gets on the end of things in the box. If teams nulify McG or he doesn't manage to score a wonder goal in a match then we're pretty blunt uptop. But can only be estatic today and think we'll stay there or there about for most of the season. Playoffs aren't guarenteed but I think we'll be in the mix, we're too solid/consistent not to be
After the game, Oscar Garcia said McGoldrick was the difference between the two teams. So he noticed who scored then... d'oh! I'd say Keith Andrews did us proud too!
Some funny scenes from the away support too. A little bit of what pundits like to call 'handbags' between them and the South Stand, then 10 minutes from time and they all tried to pile out down the fire escape. The stewards held them back and they were most eggy. It was almost as if they thought 'if I don't watch, it's not happening'!!! Tetchy lot, those Brighton boys.
that shocked me, I thought he'd done well there. May be a case of the grass isn't always greener as when we sacked Jim
Shocked? Done well? How many years has he had? I don't think they've even got near the playoffs in that time?
Yes but he's had very little money to spend and he unlike alot of clubs has had a long term plan and he now leaves them with a pretty decent young squad. As I said seems a little bit like the Magilton decision, be careful what you wish for. They've played some decent football this season and seems to me all about small steps for them stabilizing themselves after a few seasons of mess. Seems like a complete knee jerk reaction to me, I don't think many of their fans will be happy about it. He seemed pretty safe in that job tbh
I found the comment from their manager very patronising. I hope we all recording some of their songs.
Well I can only speak for myself but I wondered after a year or two how he was still in the job as they've never looked like going anywhere. I would go so far as to say it's only because of his dad's incredible achievement at the club that he is part of the Derby County family and was given all that time on the basis of romanticism. There are certain managers who just don't seem to inspire passion and they rarely do well.
I just found a very interesting statistic that I thought is worthy of mention. Since Mick took over as manager in November last year he has achieved an amazing 47% Win Ratio and we are second in the form table since his arrival. Mick is the best manager we could have hoped for and I just hope that Evans recognises this and backs him with all the resources he will need in the future.
