Right, time for a reality check!!! We have just had our biggest defeat of the season, a two nil defeat away from home. Is that really that bad??? Personally, apart from lacking ideas up front, I thought we played quite well. We have started to play passing football on the ground, and we are keeping hold of possession A LOT BETTER than the last two or three seasons. Our defenders (as a whole) are in my opinion stronger then what we have had since being relegated from the Prem nearly 10 or so years ago. If I'm wrong, which four defenders were stronger? We need somebody strong to partner Ross up front. I've never seen Ross as an out and out centre forward who's gonna bang in 25 goals a season, and although McDermott has got Varney firing on all cylinders, I only see him as a squad player. Our forwards were not getting into good positions. Time after time either Peltier or Tonge were knocking balls into the penalty box, and even when the Wall defenders missed the clearances, we were not close to getting shots on target. I honestly feel, that we are only two signing away from having a team that will challenge for the play offs. A winger, and a goalscorer.... I know we have lost 4 in a row, but lets dicect :- V Reading. Lost to a last minute goal V Burnley. Lost by a single goal. We did not play well, and Burnley are sitting pretty in 2nd place... V Newcastle. If Ross 's shot had gone in the net, not the post, it could have been a very different result V Millwall. Clueless up front.
Fair post Elland. Its just that on the radio it sounded as though we'd returned at least in part to the dark days of hoofball. Tuesday will now be very interesting. A win is the least of our requirements. A good performance showing that we are capable of challenging will be just as important.
Apart from all that elland its not looking too bad Look at your wins too Last minute against Brighton 1-0 against bottom of the table Bolton A good win at Ipswich I see 5 points there you rode your luck with works both ways mukka!!!
Yeah apart from lacking ideas up front everything is fine. We don't need to score goals do we? I'd love to know what games people are watching where they're seeing this passing football.
Watching the game on streaming, we just lacked ideas up front. We played some good football on the ground. Wooton looks a great signing. Pearce is a new player, when Byram is fully fit, and we get a decent loanee in, I reckon our fortunes will change...
You're a git Mighty Bolton was an amazing result when you look at the players we were against... Their results will start coming through We deserved 3 points at Brighton and Ipswich Anyone who has played or managed sport to a high level will tell you that it is such a thin line between winning and losing. Two good players, I reckon will be the final pieces in the jigsaw, that will see a successful season
Elland We had no McDonald,No Morison,No Beevers, We even had to play Easter up front for half the game, and 2-0 flattered you You are a lot more than 2 players away from top 6 infact 2 more players might just save you from a relegation battle, Iv watched Leeds a few times this term and seen nothing to suggest anything other than a very tough season, 2 new players or not sorry mukka
We need the final bits to the jigsaw. McDermott knows who he wants, and it looks like he's not gonna sign anyone, he'd rather wait. Fair play to him Limited budget Has got us passing the ball on the ground A couple of decent signings Has stabilised us Potentially, one of the strongest defences in the division.
Didnt see the Clough sacking coming. That being said I've never rated him and he doesnt look the type to motivate or get a team up for a fight. Just my thoughts though, it will be interesting what the players have to say about him. Derby always strike me as a club that are happy with a mid table finish.
And El, dont panic? We just lost to Millwall, Mick is going to have to give us a pay rise to deal with our resident Millwall posters!
Hey Bucks, ditto, did not see that coming. He was doing alright. Have Derby spent a bit in the Summer?
