Lucas Leiva has expressed his delight at being recalled to the Brazil squad. The midfielder, who has been impressive in the centre of the park for Liverpool this season, made Luiz Felipe Scolari's list for next month's friendlies against South Korea and Zambia. Lucas took to his Instagram page to share his joy, posting a picture of himself in his national team kit, with the caption: "Today the feeling is [like] when I got my first call to play for Brazil. I am very happy to have this opportunity to represent my country again." The 26-year-old will hope to continue his fine displays for both club and country, as he eyes a spot in next year's World Cup on his home soil. please log in to view this image (he doesn't look very bloody happy!) http://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/latest-news/145824-lucas-happy-to-be-back-in-brazil-mix - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Not bad to say a few of us are questioning the possibility of him returning to the player he was before injury
He's looked better this season than he did towards the end of last year, but still not quite up to the standard he was before his injury.
I just think its funny / ironic that we sing the praises of Lucas and Coutinho yet neither of them are in the Brazlian squad because of other english based players such as Ramires and Paulinho.
Paulinho has looked good, and did so in the Confed Cup. Ramires, I'm not sure what he is? He's not attacking, he's not defensive. He has lots of stamina but isn't creative, a goal scorer... not sure what he offers?
He's a old fashioned CM; he can defend and attack but doesn't specialise at either. A box-to-box player if you like. Henderson is the closest thing we have to him IMO
Fecking Henderson who couldnt score in a brothel so far this season Cout apparently is in the reckoning I was reading, he needs a good season with us. Played well before injury but Christ it worries me how much we miss him when injured Might not be felt as much once Suarez shakes off rustiness
It's a worry for England when one of Oscar/Coutinho can't get into the international squad, yet we're still playing James Milner They say 2020 would be a realistic target for us? Think it's more 2040!
Or never We're so **** and other countries miles ahead of us I just cant ever see it. Love to be wrong though of course
The fact that players like Diego Costa, Lucas Moura and Willian cant make the squad show how much more talent they have to pick from than us. I'd imagine that cast offs like Kaka, Ronaldinho and Robinho would walk into England's squad!!!
As much as I agree, you could have applied the same logic to France and Spain before they both won back-to-back tournaments.
How about the young guys we have come through? With the right coaching and guidance they could make some thing. Henderson, Wilshere, Rodwell, Barkley, Hughes, Powell all hopefully competing in midfield.
Brazil just never played a style that needed a Lucas type player in recent years. Unfortunately this has lead them to do poorly at the major competitions (confed. cup doesn't count) since they're too attacking minded. Good for Lucas, and good for Brazil. Hopefully he doesn't get some stupid knock though.
