Looks like most on the prediction thread are looking for us to win this one 2-1. Should definitely be a close one and will probably depend on which team puts away their chances against two GKs in great form.

Will Bruce go 4-4-2 or 3-5-1. 4-4-2 would allow Rosenior to stay in the line up and Elmo to concentrate on a more attacking role for which he's obviously more suited. But which of the 5 mid-fielders would be on the bench to accommodate the 4-4-2.? Huddlestone and Livermore didn't play against Huddersfield, nor did Brady, so presumably they'll be the other three, with Quinn on the bench. Up front will Bruce persist with Graham or start Gedo with Aluko.?

My guess is we'll start like this..

    McGregor

    Rosenior Faye Davies Figueroa

    Elmo Livermore Huddlestone Brady

    Gedo Aluko

Harper Bruce Meyler Quinn Boyd Graham Sagbo or Proschwitz.

    I expect a 2-1 win (Aluko, Brady).

I think it is to early for Gedo but I would expect him to come off the bench. Graham will probably start. I think that you will only see one of faye or figueroa with elmo in the back 4 and Quinn being in midfield. I dont think he will change to much up to be honost after all we did win last week.

    McGregor
    Elmo Figueroa Davies Rosenior
    Quinn Livermore Huddlestone Brady
    Graham Aluko

Gedo won't start, it will definitely be Graham and Aluko up front.

I like the look of that team, switching Gedo for Graham.

Could we return to 3-5-2 to counter West Ham's 5 man midfield? with Davies-Faye-Figs as the back 3?

Graham is playing very well, only a matter of time before that goal comes.

That's what I'd go for. Put Elmo back in his natural position and hopefully, someone will clear up his defensive mistakes.

I can't away from home, but at the KC I can. They haven't a lot up front with Carroll out. They're hoping on Ravel Morrison to get them the goals from midfield.
I'd pack the midfield with Aluko and Graham up top. Graham playing very well, its just a matter of time.

    McGregor
    Davies Faye Figueroa
    Elmo Livermore Thud Quinn Brady
    Aluko Graham

That would be my team anyways

There's no reason to change the formation, we've been doing well playing a back four and we've got players coming back which makes it easier to play the back four. Aluko is practically a 5th midfielder anyway so it's not like we'll be over-ran in midfield.

    McGregor
    Elmohamady Davies Faye Figueroa
    Livermore Huddlestone Quinn
    Aluko Brady
    Graham

Although I wouldn't mind if Rosenior kept his place. We've got so many good players these days I don't even mind who starts half the time because they're all good. A couple of years ago it was easy to pick a team every week. Now I just find myself thinking "Just let Brucey do what he wants with that lot."

Very true Ellewoods. Nobody who is fit and started @ Newcastle deserves to be dropped. The fact that Figgs only got back from Hondurus yesterday for me should mean he starts on the bench with Faye a starter. Plus with it being West Ham he will have a point to prove.

But with West Ham playing 4-5-1 it would not surprise me to see our formation change if not the personnel.
Maybe 3-5-2 could be SB plan B for the game.

Just saw that Rosenior was with Brucey for the pre-match interviews which are now on Tiger Player so im guessing he'll start?

think we'll go 4-3-3 as we did against Norwich at home. Bruce will be looking to win this game and might go fairly attacking.

    _____McGregor
    Elmo Figgy Davies Rosie
    __Quinn Hudds Liver
    _Aluko Graham Brady

SB has usually gone with the same winning team, and stayed with players that did well in the last game. With Figgy just back from overseas, he might put him on the bench and just bring in Faye to replace Chester and go with the rest as the same team as Newcastle.

Although I think the 3-5-2 formation cited by Totally HCAFC probably suits the players we have available better, I think West Ham will take advantage of the space behind the wing backs as they play fairly direct and like to get the ball out wide to the wingers.
