That is a big IF, I have heard from many sources that the lad will not force the move, ever. He won't do a Caroll and put in a tranfer request, he loves the club too much to disrespect them like that...

Anyway, who can really begrudge the lad a move. A footballer's career is very short and to be honest if someone offered you a chance off winning titles and competining on a regular basis for the next 10+ years, well that is very hard to turn down.

Thing is, can any of us really be angry at him if he does go? I know I can't. If I was in the same situatution and love Sunderland the way I do, I would probably go the same way about it... Leave it all in the clubs hands, if they agree then I will go, if not then I will stay. I would Never force the issue, which Jordan hasn't done... Which is a big credit to the lad. Sometimes the way our fans go on and down the lad at every chance is a disgrace, Ferguson, Bruce, Pearce, Cappello must know nothing then if this lad is as bad as people say he is... Its ridiculous.

If Henderson does go, I will keep an eye out for him, which I believe most genuine SAFC fans will do and hope the lad does very well... However, if he stays I honestly believe next season will be his season... He will shine.

Then in the summer he will probably be off to a top 4 club without a doubt. I remember there was a chat thing that I went too with Steve Walton and what stands out from the chat was when he said that Alex Ferguson has been on the phone to Bruce most of the season telling him that if anyone ever sticks a bid in for JH then ring him immediately and keep him updated. The way he was explaining it was as if Sir Alex didn't want Henderson in any other shirt than a United one. He was that desperate to land the kid....

Now, with this whole thing going on I honestly can't see Sir Alex sitting back and letting this go through... This is one big reason why I think that it will be next season when he moves to United and not this summer moving to LFC...

However, if he does leave I just wanted to say all the best to the lad and heres hoping he wins some trophies/medals... I thoroughly believe that 99% of SAFC supporters believe this aswell...

    :D<ok>

I agree, if he stays brilliant for everybody, but if he goes, I hope he is very successful.

Great post, Zenden's. I had that thought about SAF too.

Fact is, SAFC is at least 5 years away from having the financial clout to hold onto lads like Hendo with wages and winning opportunities that come close to matching the Big Boys. It's just a fact of life.

And from what I have read about Hendo - whilst the prospect of £65k/wk might not go to his head, I suspect he would be thinking about the good it could do for his extended family etc. The complete opposite of a G. Best type of personality.

I have a sneaking suspicion that he will have a stonking U21 Champ Finals. If so, that would make for a very interesting July & Aug !!

5 stars for that post ZDS, outstanding marra. It will be interesting to see whether the Liverpool deal falls through, because if it does, we will know who's responsible ;)

What hasn't been mentioned yet, is the possibility that Jordan could be bought by Man Utd and then loaned straight back to us by SAF to help him develop further in familiar surroundings, at a club he holds dear to his heart.

After all, anything is possible, isn't it?

If there is any mileage in this rumour, if I was Bruce I'd be telling Liverpool I want Jonjo Shelvey thrown in as part of the deal. Wouldn't surprise me if he has a much more successful career than Henderson. Excellent "footballer", full of skill and vision.

If he does leave, which its looking increasingly likely he will. I wont have any negative thoughts towards him.

How ever I will be highly disappointed in the club.

Seems like as soon as any club shows the slightest of interest in one of our players they are pushed out the door.

He's gone about it 100% professionally. He's not gone and mouthed off for a transfer and he's kept out of the spotlight. If he stays we have a cracking player on our hands. If he goes we have £20million to spend. Good luck to the lad <ok>

Sunderland should try and hold out till after the under 21s because i think he will have a great one and teams will pay stupid prices (look at selling early with bent compared to late with carrol)
