Another reason why £9-12m for the mig was too low @SAFCsource Former Sunderland 'keeper Simon Mignolet has a saves to shots ratio of 89%, the second best rate of regular âkeepers this season. @SAFCsource Keiren Westwood has a saves to shots rate of 54%, the lowest of any keeper to feature in all five games this season.
there was a lot of talk before the season saying he was as good as mig, im sorry but mig was better by some distance
He has had a lot more practice than other keepers so far this season, lets condemn him after we have had a dozen games, as it wouldn't do to actually praise any of our players on this site FFS
Mannone isnt much better which is the problem… Think a keeper may be on the cards come january/next summer
David Ospina or Guillermo Ochoa would do lovely… That Zoet who we were linked with in summer could have the potential to be a new Mig
The lad Zoet seems to be attracting a lot of attention. Think we will be in for him in January personally as both our present keepers ain't impressing me much.
Just looking at some stats He has played 8 games this year for PSV, kept 3 clean sheets and conceded 7…already better than Westy Didnt realise he was 22 though, thought he was younger
I got hammered a couple of weeks back for daring to suggest he should be dropped. Obviously it's a yes from me.
But what are the underlying numbers? We all know stats can be twisted and may not be comparable. If mig has saved 4 out of 5 and westy has saved 10 out of 25 will the stats still be as impressive once Mig has faced the same number of shots on target. The stats Could be saying more about the quality in front of him than his ability. Let's not forget he made some howlers for us! For the record, I think we should have kept Mig or held out for a lot more money.
I am not comfortable with him between the sticks but the comparison is slightly disingenuous, in a 4-2-4 system that DiCanio stated that he preferred, we would always ship goals, we have the highest goals against in the premiership and I would bet the highest shots against,so the law of averages will apply. Attacking formations leave the defence and keeper exposed
I've been saying this for a couple of weeks now and been told im being overly critical. For me he should have done alot better with some of the goals we've conceded. I thought Fulham,.Southampton, Palace first goal were all soft. Sessegnon goal, don't understand how he didnt catch it or trap it downward and grab it off the bounce. For me he's another Kelvin Davis. I was hoping he'd play Mannone last night.
He can't parry to save his life, who the hell pushes the ball out forward back into the danger area? Not Mannone! He just doesn't know where to position himself. Argh! Goalkeeping problems? Sunderland? The one position we've usually got covered with some quality.
