He didn't do anything that any half decent manager wouldn't have been able to do. BR and Martinez would have got them closing down quicker too! Of course, you could also say that the players learnt from experience too or that Rijkaard just wasn't very good. I'm in no way saying Pep is **** but I do think he still has a lot to prove.
I disagree there, he was good and got that ball rolling. He was dealing with Ronaldinho's ego ( and late nights out) and Eto'o in fighting along with trying to bring along some kid named Messi. That team was good though and played some slick stuff!
#modwars Wonder who will go after this job? I know Di matteo has been linked but not sure if he is feeling this position after winning the CL and FA with Chelsea last time out.
3 La Liga, 2 Copa del Rey, 3 Supercopa de España, 2 UEFA Champions League, 2 UEFA Super Cup, 2 FIFA Club World Cup - in 4 seasons, errrmm.
I don't think we should be worrying though about them upping their game against us. Defo should be looking for a good win The teams with them at the bottom of the league only have points because they got them off Sunderland Looks like they won't have a new manger in position till after they play us and the caretaker boss has done it before when others have had the sack His record P 10 W 1 D 2 L 7
Gus Poyet is favourite to replace Di Canio. I rate him as a manager so I hope he is not in charge when we play them this weekend. They will probably play out of their skins as they will have a point to prove to the new manager, whoever he is.
Players complaining to owner about manager. They had to kick him out. That changes my mind... it wasnt too early... it was necessary. If he had list dressing room that bad already he deserved to be sacked. No way you can be successful if your players all hate you.
I read this earlier on the Sunderland board... ...that's pretty damning if true PS...yes, I tidied it up for the lazy batard too
In short... he acted like a dictator... insulted the players inappropriately... banned things like ketchup, mayo and ice and threatened to throw their iPhones in the north sea.
Not a lot wrong with much of that as I see it. Bunch of overpaid, lazy oiks taking their money every week, and attitude of "Win or Lose, on the Booze" (Bardsley's an example, getting snapped in a Casino), no wonder DiCanio went mental at them. Only problem as I see it was separating the first team from the rest of the setup, isolating them from the academy players so throughly. Maybe Paolo just didn't want the attitude to leak out from a toxic first team? As for everything else, why the **** do the players want to have their phones on em at work?? If they are on the pitch or in the gym they're on work time and they should be focussed on their work. Its not just 'turn up for few hours on Saturday' and piss around the rest of the time. If they want to get privilaliges like ketchup (for ****s sake, how petty - on both sides - is that), work bloody hard and put in the effort, and when the results come speak to the manager then.
And separated the players from the rest of the club including making none first team players wait outside the gym until ALL the seniors had finished
St john. Yes... wanting or denying ketchup is petty in and of itself. I think the real problem maybe more about the "how" of the event. It seems like DiCannio was very degrading and these things eroded away at the dignity of the players. You could probably take ketchup away and not cause a rebellion but if you're taking away ketchup "'cos you are ma bitches and I can and you can't stop me" then that is a big deal. If it was a "I'm concerned ketchup will make you fat and I want what us best for you because I love you like my children" the players would be annoyed but get over it.
