Hey Gang, Just a quick one this morning.... As reported yesterday, McDermott will not be taking a ride with Bentley, we do not want him.... That's quite a statement!!! Thoughts? Big game tonight.... Could a Cup game like tonight reshape our season? Transfers... Are we expecting any? Will they happen this week? Who are we expecting to come in on loan???
Morning Elland, with the Hammers winning last night and Vaz te scoring the winner I think that would end any hope of signing him, think Becchio is the best chance as he can't even get in the Norwich 2nd team.
Problem with Bentley is we'd have had to get him up to match fitness, then best scenario he performs on a short term deal (like Diouf did), and we sign him up long term, and with his recent appearance record would you have confidence in him staying injury free? For that reason I'm glad we chose not to bring him in.
Morning all. I think our season has been defined in the last 2 games which we lost. We all knew we just didn't have enough quality, and BMD knew and thats why he was chasing a 3 players. He didn't get them but soldiered on anyway and in fact did a great job as we got some good results early on. This had many fans saying we could get into a top 6 position, which in reality we knew was never going to happen with this squad as it is. We need at least 2 quality players to come in on loan, which means they are going to be available to buy at the end of the season, because BMD only brings in a loan if its a player he wants to buy. Talk of Vaz Te is silly because West Ham are struggling for strikers due to injury and he provides goals like last night. I'm expecting a defeat again tonight as the bar-codes stated yesterday that a strong side would be put out against us. Believe it or not I still think we'll do better than last season, but as we stand right now we are not as good as we would like.
Morning all. Doesnt seem to be all that many loan signings out there worth talking a chance on. Why do we never seem to look to the continent though. Surely must be some worthwhile signings to be had. Celtic spring to mind. They seem to do the bulk of their transfer business on the Continent and have made many astute signings and profited down the line from them. Is it a lack of a proper scouting network or crap wages or what is the problem?
Morning people Vaz Te has been told to leave, I think he'll go to either a champ club or a prem club fighting relegation but he wont be guaranteed a starting spot at a prem team. I think there is a small hope of bringing him in, I highly doubt Long will be available. I don't understand what the harm is in bringing Bentley in for a pay as you play deal, he could only improve our team. BM said he is too similar to Ross and Diouf but I disagree personally, Bentley is an out and out wide man who is very good on his delivery, something we have been lacking. Maybe he just thinks Bentley is past it and didn't really want to say that to the media to affect Bentley's chances.
GFH have said they're trying to help McD ... let's see how it goes. Not easy though, tough to get quality on loan. Newcastle will come flying at us tonight ... their defeat on Saturday has seen to that! Pardew needs a big win to lift his club ... they don't need another struggle a la Morecambe. I'd fancy us to win if we were at home, but at St James' with a lot to prove? Nope, they will play hard and fast, and they have genuine talent in their team when in the mood ... let's hope we hold our own, ask a few questions and if its a loss its by one goal. MOT!!!
Morning all I don't know why, but I have a feeling we will sign Burke or that player Ross was talking about from Scotland. Don't remember his name tho.
Can't wait for tonight's game. I'm not going to predict the result, we could get hammered or we could sneak a win. I was lucky enough(sorry for repeating myself) to have been at the match we beat them 4.1 back in 82. I stayed in Newcastle and worked in my aunties tile yard in Wallsend, so I could stay and watch the next round match which was at home to Uddersfield. We lost 1.0 on a horrible rainy, freezing night, but the skills of E.Gray and F.Worthington were a pleasure to watch.
Oh I forgot about the game today But what do I feel about it......hmmmmm........don't really know. In one hand I want to win this game, on the other hand I want us to concentrate on the league. But I know that as soon as the game starts I'm all in for the win
Morning all. Wouldn't waste money on Bentley. He had his time to shine at Spurs. Failed miserably. Probably wouldn't cope with the hussle and bussle of the Championship. But might do well for a side in the bottom half of the PL where he's likely to get a bit more time on the ball. As to incomers for us, no idea. Just hope we find a winger to allow us to play a 4-1-3-2 formation to add width to our team. Were that to happen, Ross could play up front with (pick 1 from Smith, Poleon, Varney, or Hunt). Diouf could play CM/playmaker with Austin having the holding midfield role As for tonight, as long as we give them a game, rather than role over and get stuffed by 4 or worse.
Morning all Bentley could have helped out a bit, but he would only ever have been a short term fix for us - not the sort of signing I want to see us make really. Though I'd take him above not signing anyone, so hopefully BMD has something else lined up better than the prospect of Bentley. Fingers crossed...
BM is looking to the big picture so no short fixes for him Burke or McKay Stephens seems to be the possibility,Sharp will be going to Reading I think whilst Vaz TE would BE ANOTHER EXCELLENT ADDITION. aND good morning to all don't forget BM is quite good at beating higher placed clubs in this cup Liverpool springs to mind
