Lambert spent the majority of his career at nothing clubs until recently. Some players simply don't get spotted til late.

He needs time to adapt to the team and league just like any other player does - age doesn't come into it.

Lambert is an exception, how many other players can you name that didn't shine till late in their career? Plus Lambert is a big old fashioned English CF so had the physical attributes needed.

I just can't honestly see any real positive signs or attributes with Aspas that will make him have a good career in the PL. Hopefully I'm wrong, and if I am I'll happily admit it. But for me he just has nothing special at all to offer, and no real signs that he'll improve. He get's given chances but goes missing in every single game - we can't afford to carry players like that.

  4. Ian Wright, Kevin Phillips, erm...I'm out <ok>

PS...I agree with both here. He's hardly played so he should be given time but there isn't much there to give us hope either <ok>

How old was Ian Wright?....22 when he signed for Palace.

Kevin Philips wasn't exactly a great player!!

  6. We could do with a Kevin Phillips ATM <laugh>

No idea how old Wrighty was, just throwing some names into the hat. I agree with what you are saying but still think the lad should be given a chance rather than just condemning him after the equivalent of two games. Lucas and Kuyt looked shocking at first too, the latter was min-20's <ok>

Edit: although some of us could see there was more to their (Lucas & Kuyt) game and they could develop.

some people on here are hopeful in the extreme and that ok, those who get shirty and start insulting people for not sharing that kind of hopeful stuff are just plain wrong and ought to grow up.

Most people can look at a player and know full well what they might be good at or not good and and also if they will succeed for their side.

I for one have seen more than enough of aspas to say what I feel. I am not saying the same about alberto as i think he's not played and is not ready to play so how do you judge that bar put him in the potential category.

Aspas again is not helped by playing in the middle with sturridge as he's simply bossed off it and anonymous. I think we need to see him just wide right as a kuyt type role and see if he can deliver a bit more there.

Thats being kind. The guy in every game (and it was half time he was hauled off at last time) has been totally anonymous, unable to get to the pace of any game, unable to contribute one positive moment and thus subbed off everytime...

finally for all the little examples people are throwing about... trying to show that a player might surprise.... well again for every one i could give 10 that show people are right. its not about that I've said already what's obvious, the guy has maybe a chance in a wide role but he just aint good enough in the middle.

Didn't really have many expectations of him tbh.I'd never seen him play before but he didn't come with a particularly impressive record and only had one season in la liga with a struggling team so it seemed like a bizarre signing to me. Was pleasantly surprised with him in preseason but now the real games have started its going about how I expected. Hopefully rodgers can cut out some of the pointless squad player signings because thats the one thing that annoys me about him.

I waited and looked. I never saw him play and refuse to go look at you tube.

Preseason was decent but mixed and he looked to improve a bit as it went and produced one or two positive contributions what certainly gave me hope but day one to now in the prem he's nowhere near the level just to be average..

BTW... right now moses is average, he's not fit by the look of him and so is only contributing in short bursts. We've a bit of history of seeing him to know what to expect but the question is if he's got the attitude or is silly enough to think he's going to go back to chelsea and play. he's working for his next move.

Aspas has proven in La Liga that he can be very useful while Alberto hasn't had time in the first team to really prove anything. I'll pass judgement at the end of the season or maybe even the end of the season after for Alberto. Let the boys settle, I think Aspas has shown some neat touches during games

I didn't see his performance against Soton so I can only go on his debut against Swansea where I thought he linked up well. He did fade in the game but I think that may be down to fitness.

In addition, he gives us a very direct option - someone who can actually dribble with the ball and take on players and ultimately create. He may go in and out of games but he has the ability to create something out of nothing.

I have played centre mid for Sunday league football teams for most of my life and once made a brief step up to pay-when-played. It absolutely blew me away how much quicker everything was even in such a small increase in standard. I see the exact same look on Aspas' face whenever he plays in the Premier league. You can just see that the lad is overwhelmed completely.

Plus he is being played as a no 10, where everything is even more congested and he has less time. It must be ****ing awful for him to be fair.

It can go either way really; he gets used to the pace of the game and becomes a decent squad player or he gets more and more nervous about playing and his confidence just becomes shot to pieces. I know what happened to me <laugh>

Thing is Aspas scored 12 goals in La liga with struggling team, Kone scored 12 goals in the prem with a struggling team. I wonder why we didn't just sign Kone. We know he's good enough to play in the premier league.

he did fade and thats why i say average. thats fine, he contributed but the fact is he can do better. nothing wrong in that its positive actually. we should expect more out of him.

I agree a ok retrun in goals in spain plus a lot of assists mean that aspas should be bale to do something. but right now he's not showing it. the fact is sturrdge wants to come from right to shoot on his left and thats aspas's area.

now we know suso is a prospect but he's doing great in the lower spanish club that he's in... dare i say it but that is a step down from prem?

Playing against the likes of Barca, Real, Villareal, At Madrid, Sociedad etc is definitely a step up from reserve team football.

He's now becoming a focal point in their attack so it looks as if he's adapting to this new pressure of delivering week in week out, in front big crowds.
