I'm pretty sure that the universe operates on the principle that any statement I make must immediately be made to look silly by events, so I don't think that it's unreasonable to believe that Norwich scored to spite Tom.
We probably will now, the only non-Prem teams who are in the next round are Burnley and Leicester who would both beat the team we played today. Is the draw tomorrow?
Cortese: Mauricio..? Pochettino: Yes, Nicola..? Cortese: I'd like us to win this trophy. Pochettino: OK, I'll stop with this reserve bollocks then..!
Since I actually had the time off work to go to the game tonight I've decided to say my ratings: Davis 8 - decent shot stopper, calm, commanded his area well Chambers 8 - excellent game, provided trouble and actually made a few runs and dribbles Yoshida 6 - decent at the back Hooiveld 7 - same as above, silly yellow to give away though Fox 8 - thought he had a brilliant game tonight, one of our best players Cork 7 - decent game, stuck in and even one a few headers Davis 8 - solid game Ward-Prowse 4/5 - one of his worse performances, some good touches but largely poor. Still a good player though don't get me wrong Ramirez 8 - very good first half causing trouble and good shots Guly 6 - had the crowd on his back, maybe got to him, some fans should be ashamed, more egged on he was the less interested he became Lee - 6 some good runs and touches, welcome return that ran miles
Not a bad summary RLGB. Agree with most of what you say apart from JWP who I thought worked hard as always. In fact the effort from the youngsters was a class above Lee and Guly. I'm not knocking them but the youngsters just look hungrier to me. Harry Reed and Omar Rowe also showed that hunger in their cameo appearances. In truth we had a good first half but we reduced ourselves to their level in the second half and but for a few fine saves from kelvin we may have let them back in. City fans should be rightly proud of their team who just would not give up. It's not that we under estimated them but I think some thought they would get more time on the ball than they did. Got to laugh at the Guly and Fox hecklers around me. All they want to do is give them stick making themselves look a bit silly a lot of the time. For players who haven't played much recently they put in a good shift. Hard to shine unless you play matches every week.
Bloody hell. You seriously must have been watching a different game to me. I thought we were terrible second half and couldn't even pass the ball 5 yards correctly. It was embarrassing by both teams at times. Chambers played well, but the rest of the defence weren't great at all. Our midfield was missing at times, and Ramirez was certainly not an 8 despite his good goal. His shots were decent but his all round effort and passing was pretty lacklustre. The crowd always get on Guly's back. He didn't have a good game tonight, not at all, but there was no need for the abuse and ironic cheering he got when substituted. Lee runs hard, but has no quality whatsoever. The first team have no worries about their places for saturday.
Just got back from the game, and my thoughts; Your average performance from Kelvin, good saves but wayward kicking. Chambers had a good game, well attacked and defensively solid. Yoshida & Hooiveld looked a good, solid partnership. Fox had a good game ... caused a few problems. Felt Ramirez, whilst scored a cracking goal, gave the ball away far far too often tonight. Quite how Guly is operating as a footballer tonight is beyond me ... not a Guly hater, but my god. Cork & Davis were fairly steady in the middle, didn't notice them too much. Lee had a good, encouraging first half but faded second half. And a note for young Harry Reed, what a talent this lad is going to be. Very impressive. Overall, a decent display, a dodgy 10-15minute spell second half aside, we did alright.
A curates egg of a match, some things to enjoy, Rambos goal was probably worth the entrance fee, and a couple of classy passes but then faded away. Guly, waste of space. Corks passing in the first half was dire, improved later on. For thirty minutes we just let City try to play football and if they had a finisher it may have been more interesting. After the subs Wotsit and JRod came on it was suddenly quite enjoyable and Omar Rowe showed some talent late on, wish he had been given a chance earlier. Tad did what he usually does, but second half had no service whatsoever. Chambers had a good game and Clyne will have to be on his toes. Yosh and Jos solid as ever, and Hoover only scores on Tuesdays! Steve Davis probably MoM, was involved in most of the good things at both ends. KD made some good saves but his distribution was woeful. JWP also played well and his dead ball delivery will be a serious threat. Foxy a reasonable game but wasn't really tested on his flank. A lot of fans didn't get into the ground early enough to see Rambo's goal , we still have got Division One ticketing arangements, and I still think the game was overpriced, a lower price would have seen more through the turnstiles. Just my view on it.
Not the best game so far but it was our 2nd string and we got a result, I was impressed with Lee and although I missed Gastons goal he looked decent. Guly was shocking against an average league 1 outfit.
