That's fair enough I guess, living where I do I feel the same about West Ham Opposing clubs' chairmen love us though, the extra revenue they get from one of the top five away followings in the country
Oh Leeds fans, how they love to gloss over history. Care to mention post relegation from the Prem the regular attendances below 20k and not opening a stand FOR A WHOLE SEASON? Compare that with Man City selling out every week in the 3rd tier and this is from the biggest city in Britain with 1 professional football team. I've lived in Leeds for 14 years and it's amazing how few of the shirts you see whereas Rhinos shirts are everywhere.
Precisely. You mentioned the thing you're proud of and neglected to mention the appalling home attendances that make Leeds one of THE worst supported teams in the whole of the UK per head of population in its respective city.
Totally irrelevant as this is a thread about a Leeds game in Newcastle, and whether there'll be any trouble in the city centre, and how many Leeds will bring. It has nothing to do with how our home attendances and how they were affected by fans staying away out of protest against the most expensive ticket prices and the crooked Bates regime. Since the Chelsea bastard ****ed off attendances are averaging 26,000 and will slowly edge up, despite the fact the team is still hopeless. Being a Hull City fan (or is it Tigers now? ) I'm surprised you'd want to embarrass yourself by commenting on a thread involving teams with a rich history, namely Newcastle, Sunderland and Leeds United
You're right, we have no history of success whatsoever so surely it's even more impressive that we were getting 21,000 midweek (with 150 visiting fans only) in the bottom division just 10 years ago. Not to mention the record Division 3 North attendance of 44,000 in the 60s. And ah the good old protest line whenever the pathetic home attendances from a city of 750,000 inhabitants is brought up. That protest has been going on some time now hasnt it?
Loving your selective memory no mention of your attendances of 4,500 anyway I thought we weren't allowed to talk about history If so, shall we talk about trophies won, seasons in Europe, number of times our respective clubs have been Champions of England? No..didn't think so. Have a think next time you play the history card
We were protesting And you just made my point for me. The fact we have zero success in our history and still hold record attendances is surely even more impressive?
I welcome the Leeds fans. They are a lively bunch and will help a good atmosphere. Hopefully there is no bother, they do the decent thing and let us win.
It looks like the Leeds fans have let themselves down! Despite their proud boasts of a top 5 record of banning orders and arrests they seem to have failed to cause any real disorder.
Came out of the Star and it was 50 a side outside Tilleys at half 7. The bobbies sorted it out straight away. Pretty quiet night.
If this had happened in Sunderland, the local news media would have portrayed it as a full scale riot!
