Its not another thread slagging off players wages. The opposite really. I've seen a lot people slagging off footballers wages. But no one slags of Tom Cruise when he gets £15m for a film. The Rolling Stones played Glastonbury for a reported £2m. Its always puzzled me that.
I agree. They're most not hurting anyone too. Bankers, legal types etc etc don't attract the same wide range of anger other than in short bursts occasionally. It's almost like footballers are used like decoys for the masses to complain about.
If anyone thinks it's alright to be paid £200,00 a week for kicking a bag of wind around a field then they are seriously ****ed in the head. As for Tom Cruise? Collateral and Top Gun are great films. Jack Reacher round was ****.
Football is a business, no one complains at how much Richard Branson or Bill Gates earn. Clubs like Real Madrid, Barcelona and Man Utd are effectively multinational companies like Virgin or Microsoft, they bring in outrageous amounts of cash, but in a football club the cash is shared between the players rather than going to one man, I don't see the problem they earn their 'company' massive amounts in shirt sales and sponsors and are rewarded accordingly.
Yeah but without the shirt of the club on their backs they cant earn anything. They have also forgotten the fans who can not afford to follow the club that has been their life for decades. Pay them well but not for the sake of it.
I'm not saying I agree with the level of income and wages in the game, but that is how it is. It should be proportionate to the income they generate for the club in the same way we would want more money at work for bringing in more money for our employers whether it be selling more products, dealing with more clients etc.
I watched Top Gun again recently and was stunned at how homoerotic it is. The director was clearly up for some greasy, gay action. It surpises me that Carmine would be so openly a fan.
Well put. When you think about the prem team that got us relegated and the present team , which is the best we have ever had imo, the latter will be on a lot less yet im sure keep us up.. Yep value for money is all we are asking..
I completely agree, the problem is the amount they are paid isn't proportionate to the income they generate (with the exception of one or two clubs). Its an inflated market and as such many clubs pay players more than they can afford, resulting in clubs running up huge debts just to be competitive.
It's not about just picking on footballers. However this is more likely to come up on a football forum than a random thread about how much Tom Cruise earns per second on film! However, if it doesn't end soon along with silly transfers then the whole thing will go tits up! At the end of the day, the clubs pay the money that comes from supporters. They decide what they think they're worth same as movie bosses. If people don't like it then they don't go!
The demonising of footballers is like the demonising of "chavs". The amount of money defrauded by benefit cheats is a tiny fraction of that avoided legally and illegally by the better off. I lived in affluent area in South of England and people no brighter(but a lot better connected)than the average punter where getting incredibly well paid jobs in the City and places like the BBC. At least footballers have a limited career and genuine talent.
Of course there is the moral argument that these people (footballers, movie stars...etc) are essentially entertainers and nothing more, yet the people that make a difference in this world doctors, scientists, engineers...etc get paid very poorly in comparison.
Well that's confused me. Apart from some manly bonding during the beach volleyball scene how is it a homoerotic? I went to see the bastard twice at ABC when I was 15 and will not have this slur placed upon it sir!!!! Meg Ryan( fit as) and Kelly what's her name( decent enough then but a proper fatso now) are in it so if anything it's hetroerotic. And yes I do believe I'm just made that word up. BCC you don't have some funny ideas son.
That's something else that annoys me. It's the law that is wrong not the people for using the loophole. I would legally avoid paying anything I could if I had the money, in the same way nobody would turn down £200,000 per week.
